Will the buyout of 70 associates be the last of AGC's downsizing?

i doubt it... my brother-in-law is head of maintenance 1st shift, and he heard a rumor that the plant could eventually close if the economy doesn't get any better..

What sort of time frame is there for the economy to get better related to their decision?

The question was posed at the meetings about how many they could let go before the plant was shut down. It is just a rumor and rumors around the plant should be taken with a grain of salt. I just wonder what kind of sabotage is going to take place this time. The last time they informed people of the terminations of employment there was some that went on.

Nothing has ever been said of going down to 3 days a week. Starting March 2nd A.G.C. is back to a five day operation.

I dont know where your info comes from but yes there was talk of going to 3 days a week. But since this round of seperations of employment. They are going to 5 days a week but only half shifts. There are some dept that wont have a 3rd shift and some that will only have enough manpower to run half of the dept at a time. I wouldnt read to deep into the 5 day work weeks though as it could get worse yet.

Maybe this reduction activity will minimize the chance of any further buyouts...

Every department and every shift is working a 5 day work week starting March 2nd. Some of the production lines will not work every shift though. Manpower has been cut back but will have enough to cover the lines that need to be ran. Rumors are running rampant at the plant. I know because I am a 20 year employee at A.G.C. Can you say that DARK SOLDIER.
