Does anyone know what they pay starting out? My hubby has an interview and we have no idea what the pay is.

Right now, just to have a job that pays anything is a good thing.

Good luck!

I agree. He will be happy with any job but this place called for an interview and we have no idea what the starting rate is. I just wondered if it was minimun wage or a little more. I don't know anyone who works there so I don't know much about the place.

I would think it's more than minimum, but these days you never know.

May I ask when your hubby applied? My hubby and BIL applied some time ago when they had people applying at Job and Family Services and neither one of them heard anything...

Thanks...I just told him that...lol...I guess they probably thought maybe you couldn't do that in this case since it was through ODJFS instead of directly at Nash Finch. It would be cool if he could get on there...his dad retired from there.

I agree..i got on fulltime after working their 1 year and was layed off one year later along with 13 others. I worked there a totol of 5 years and was fed up with their crap.Hiring, laying off, hiring laying off..etc...what a joke.I have several family members that still work out there at the GMS and Super foods (nash Finch) end and its the same ole thing they've been doing for years.

For anyone else this might apply to and the person who judged me clueless since my husband had applied there through Job and Family Services here in town he checked with them yesterday when I told him about this thread. They said they were told to tell people to not call there directly. And if that's what they do then he's probably better off not getting hired there. That's the problem at HBD where he's laid off from now. We don't need more of the same.

Worked there for 20 years and got layed off when they moved most the stuff to Lima..Then when things start to pickup here in Bellefontaine they didn't call me back..instead they will hire new people at lower wages..also you will have to join the union and pay dues every month plus a one time fee...And ask them if it's a 40 hour week job.. I'm guessing it isn't....Been there myself...

yea, you're lucky to get 37 hours a week.. i mean, it's better than nothing, but, you don't get very many benefits.. and i wasn't impressed with the insurance..

I have worked at nash finch for 19 years on the GMS side. The part time make all most as much as the full time. The start pay is 9.00. (GMS) On the hiring it depends on which end you are getting hired into on the start of pay. There is a GMS side and a Upstream Downstream side. Which is the old super foods. I do have compassion for the guys that did get layed off from the old Super Foods end. But now with Upstream Downstream hopefully it will be there for years.

Upstream.. downstream.. What the heck is that? Paying union dues for a 9.00 job...Local 908 is happy with that...

Well looks like everyone has plenty to stay on this subject. Right now my hubby has NO job so if they call he will go to work and find out how it is. In my opinion anything is better than nothing at this point. I'm not sure I understand about the upstream, downstream. As far as the union, is this something that you have to join? This is all unfamiliar territory to me, there are no unions in my line of work. I was shocked to hear that they have lay-offs, I just assumed that a company dealing with food would always be busy, I mean people have to eat. Live and learn!!! Thanks for all of the information guys!!!

yea, you have to join the union.. you get a 45 day union probationary period, at the end of which they take $150.00 from you for "back pay", and then an additional $24.00 for the current month.. then it's $24.00 a month.. not bad once you get past the initial $150.00... it's the teamsters union out of lima.. but it is not an option.. even if you're part time..

At $9.oo an hour if you got 40 hours in the week..( which I don't think you would ) you would make $ 360.00.. Doesn't unemployment pay more then that ?
