Parents, generally, are the only ones that really care about any school sport. High school and below. There may be a few more for high school sports, but in general, it is mostly family.

I agree with the exception of HS football. Many towns all across America turn out in droves on Friday night to support the hometown football team. Ever been to a Coldwater or St. Henry varsity football game, for example?

Middle school is often dominated by kids who mature early and are bigger/faster than the rest at that age. Oftentimes, by high school or college these kids have not advanced as much as other kids. We all know kids who were "great" in middle school that weren't even playing competitive sports by their junior/senior years.

The ones who aren't playing their junior and senior years are probably the ones who get tired of the crap that goes on with sports. We all know kids who get to be some of the best on the teams because their parents "run off" all of the other kids. That happens more than what people want to admit. There are parents out there that have the time and money to make sure their kids get to play more when they are in junior high, so natually they are going to get better.

America turns out in droves to support the hometown football team because it is a traditon of Fall and basically there isn't anything better to do on a Friday night.

I'd give the edge to the Lake.
They may be the only Jr. High program in the state of Ohio that sends scouts out to watch the upcoming competition.
I've heard that they even came up with some video.
All other Jr. High programs just show up & play with no idea what offensive or defensive schemes they'll see.

Go Get Em !!!!!

I have passed your comments on to the OHSAA since both advanced scouting and recording game film of an upcoming opponent are violations of OHSAA code. Thanks for the tip

Lakers won 26-24, but the line was Lakers minus 3. You lose Greek!

It was (once again) a well fought game from both sides. Bellefontaine came up short and our weaknesses throughout the season so far was definately exploited by the Lakers; we had time to correct them but didn't.

All in all though the Bellefontaine 8th grade team is still very much a tough team with two more games to go...still a shot at CBC champs this year depending on how both BMS and ILMS do against the last two sets of teams. For a lot of the boys, this was a hard loss as they were not used to losing after having won every game since early 6th grade in Pee-Wee Football.

Thanks to all for coming out as we had the biggest crowd there that I have seen and no sore winners nor sore losers.

Good job Boys!!!

See how these 2 teams go head 2 head again @ High School level, sure to be good game again. Though much will change by that time... kids @middle school level just getting prepared for what is to come,, but coaching level, is what may never come....

I look forward to the next 4 games these boys play against each other. A lot of the same boys on both sides have battled it out on the field for six years now and I do not recall that any of the games were lopsided on the scoring. They have played each other in Hurricane Ike's remnants, freezing rain and sunshine with generally close results.

However in HS, some of each will likely skip 9th ball and play JV or Varsity right away, breaking the combination of players up a bit for 2 years but for the beneft of the overall HS programs.

Coaching, yeah the boys will need to have good guidence to get the most out of the set of skills of the team. Hopefully our coaches will see to it that they do just that.
