Personal attack threads, middle school mind-sets, senseless one sided "polls", extremely illiterate posters, family dramas, more illogical partisan ideals than ever before, and just general stupidity (such as the claim that homosexuality is somehow the same as pedophelia)....what is happening here? It's always been rather tasteless, but there was a time you could find at least a few interesting, intelligent or at the very least, coherent, discussions to read and comment on, or some genuinely funny posts. Lately, it's been nothing but trash.

I agree much of what you state. Since gossip and ridicule are the lowest form of opinion, I would also conclude that people who enjoy pointing out the wrongs of others are not too high on the spiritual ladder as well.....kind of stuck at the same level where they were when teenagers and they had to follow their peers to feel accepted.

I have found that people who always need something or someone to judge do so to make themselves feel better about themselves, and the only way to do this is pointing out the flaws in others. Those who enjoy pulling others down are often insecure and are uncomfortable and scared of what they can't understand.

The fellow who has to constantly ridicule gay people, I believe, has a psychological problem. He dwells strictly too much on the subject of homosexuality, and has let the subject take way too much control of his mind. He has also convinced himself that he has the proper authority to degrade the homosexual as he does, and wants to impress others into believing that he knows what he is talking about, however facts disprove him and expose his personal thoughts and opinions instead. Yet he imagines himself superior to others.

The nasty, cold-hearted people that post on here only matter if we let them...

I choose to ignore their rants. If no one comments back to them they will have to spew their narrow-mindedness to themselves.

Spot on. That's one of the reasons his IDs have been banned so many times. Sad.

I also hope you decide to stick around. I don't always agree with you, but it's nice to see there are still posters who can give their opinions in an intelligent and tactful manner.

Thank you. We are all individuals so will not always agree on everything. Sometimes it is best to dwell on the things people do agree on, instead of the things they don't. It's best to agree to disagree and then let it ride instead of forming enemies.

Sometimes prejudiced individuals base their opinions on personal feelings and and on ignorance instead of facts, as evidenced by the fellow who constantly hammers the gay community. These are the ones I will counter with facts, and quite frankly, have little respect for, because they stir up negative fears and do damage to others.

Check out other towns/cities on topix..bellef topix out shines the rest with trash, personal attacks, etc. It's a damn shame that topix even allows such threads. It discredits any and all participants that are on here for a little healthy conversation and entertainment.

There not many threads worth reading. Topix tends to bring out the worst in people.

Didn't someone put up a thread 3 or 4 years ago about Bellefontaine Topix was like the 'Topix Capital of the United States" because it was the busiest and had the most traffic than any town or city in all the other states? I remember checking out individual Topix forums of the large cities in different states, and their forums were not one half of as busy as B-town's. In towns like Urbana and Kenton, a week might go by before someone creates a new thread, and 2 weeks or more might go by without anyone posting on an old one.

It is one of the busier local forums, and as such it would stand to reason that we would have more ignorant and hateful posts, just due to the sheer volume.

But, it seems, as I stated in the OP, there are more now than ever, and the personal attack threads with an abundance of illiterate folks weighing in are increasing.

This is interesting...as I read Hummingbird's last post and was getting ready to reply, I happened to notice the sudden high volume of negative "judging" here on this thread..... I thought, "Hmmm...I bet the pollster will show up soon." And sure enough, he just posted on his homophobic thread.

Lol....thanks for supporting the vein of this thread,'pollster'....appreciat e it.

Yes---like the person (s) who keeps judging us because he either doesn't like us or what we are saying. Why doesn't he or she state his/her reasons why they disagree with our comments?
