If you knew him you'd know theres NO NEED to help him out-he has done just fine all these years by himself, thanks for the offer though im sure he would appreciate it being the man he is,as well as his son.

Cotner is really dedicated to people like Luke. And i assume Luke will return to Ben Logan next year. Doug rutan is a problem. they need to out him.

Dan make sure when you and the boy go out to throw the ball around you wear your raider jersey instead of wearing your chiefs jersey.I think that's the problem he's getting mixed up.
Either or jersey, what does it matter? are you putting the bellefontaine Chiefs down as well, they are a good football team too,all these kids that play are good, your the one with the problem bud.I can only feel sorry for you.Because I have NO PROBLEM with either.

Isn't it time to end this silly topic? All the adults involved know that putting down kids publicly like this is wrong. How about everyone just stop now. Enough is enough. No more hurting kids.
OK coach enough on the kids.I have a idea how about you and the other coaches set the bench and let the kids call the plays or maybe the parents in the stands so we can win a ballgame and everybody will be happy!

OR "you" could come out of the stands and put your money where your mouth is since you have ALL the answers!!! YOU try for ONE game and see where that get the team. Let everyone on TOPIX know what game and I'm sure there will be a big crowd there to see you WIN the game.

I AGREE WITH THE COACH THESE KIDS ARE THERE TO LEARN AND GROW NOT TO BE MADE FUN OF OR TALKED ABOUT...OBVIOUSLY THE COACH KNOWS SOMETHING OR HE WOULDNT HAVE GOTTEN THE JOB... THE ONLY THING I DONT AGREE ON COACH IS LETTING LUKE,,IS THAT HIS NAME LETTING HIM GO HE WAS JUST COMMENTING NO NEED TO THROW HIM OFF THE TEAM ISNT EVERYBODY ENTITLED TO THERE OWN OPPINION...HE WAS JUST MAKING A STATEMENT...EVERYONE HAS THERE BAD DAYS...

FYI, Coach Rutan was the Urbana HS quarterback in the early 80's who led his team to the State Championship game. Very few, if any people in this area can make that claim. He knows much about 1) being a successful quarterback and 2) winning.

From what I remember, Doug had originally went to the University of Cincinnati (D1) & was recruited by coach Gotlieb (sp). Once that coach left, a different style offense came in that may not have suited his style of play. Doug then decided to go home to Urbana & helped his old HS coach start college football there. Some of my thoughts may be wrong, boy that was 30 years ago... already. I don't know how BL has kept Doug from going back to Urbana ?

I am not affiliated with Ben Logan athletics in any way and never have been. I have not even seen them play, but I do know the QB in question personally. He is a very good kid, a great competitor, hard worker, just a quality young man. My sons have played on baseball teams with this young man off and on from the age of 8 to about 12 or 13. They have also played on teams against him at later ages, his team won some, we won some. He was just as humble and friendly after a game whether he had won or lost whenever we played against him. He was always a class act that would do whatever was best for the team when we played with him. He didn't complain, didn't put anyone down, no bad attitude or arrogance that is present with a lot of people that are good at what they do. He just came to play. You can be humble and be good at what you do.

Now that I have addressed his character:The last time I spoke to his dad he wasn't even going to play football. However, if the team wanted him to play QB to help the team he is the type that will do exactly that whether he really wanted to or not. Y'know what? Knowing him I bet he never complains when he takes a beating back there running for his life nor blames it on his teammates. I would say he says something uplifting to his teammates. The people who think they could be a better coach, or think some other kid should be playing instead probably never performed at an elite level at any sport. They want to live their lives through their kids, and let's face it some parents think their kids are a lot better than what they really are. In a lot of cases there is a huge difference in a kids actual talent and the talent the parents think they have. Sometimes a kid's best just isn't good enough and the parents just can't except it. You people who complain and have all the ideas on what plays should be called, or defense that should be run, etc. do you borrow game film from the coaching staff and provide your suggestions? Do you borrow it at the very least so you will know why the coaching staff is messing things up in your opinion? 90% or higher of the people who watch football don't even know what they're watching as far as X and Os are concerned.

If I had to guess I would say the complaints come from people whose kids couldn't do any better and the coaches know this. That is why they're not in there. Trust me, it's hard enough to be a QB and make quick decisions when you get time to throw. It is extremely hard when the defense has you running for your life at the snap of the ball. The game of football is definitely a team effort. I know when things go well the skill players like QBs, running backs, receivers tend to get the credit, but without time to throw, you can put an outstanding QB in the backfield and he will look mediocre and make mistakes. It doesn't bode well for your running backs either.
