Marco Rubio, Chris Smith, Jon Huntsman, even Bill Kristol and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen can give speeches fiercely disagreeing with Administration foreign policy while sticking to largely-agreed facts. Why can't Mitt Romney?

1. "Obama's billion dollars of defense cuts." Well, the Administration proposed $498 million over ten years, which Congress has not yet actually approved, and Republicans have attempted to up. Meanwhile, the Budget Control Act negotiated by Republicans and Democrats would require $500 million more in cuts over ten years if Congress doesn't act by December. By that rationale, the military medals of that two-star down the hall from me are mine, too.

1a. "cuts have no strategy." Again, taking just the $498 million reduction in growth over a decade that the Admin proposed, it flowed from the strategy review that the Pentagon issued this past January. You could disagree with that strategy. But that would require you to offer a counter-strategy.

2. Allegedly bashing Israel at the UN. Romney didn't say which of Obama's annual UN speeches he was criticizing: the most recent one, on which Israel advocates "heaped praise" for its opposition to Palestinian moves for statehood (and after which his popularity "surged" in Israel; or his first one, where he spoke eloquently to world leaders about Israeli hopes for security and peace.

3. "Apology tour." If only the Washington Post's Glenn Kessler for every time I mention his comprehensive debunking of this wholly untrue conservative favorite. In reality, being Barack Obama means never having to say you're sorry.(You get Secretary Clinton to do it for you.)

4. Supposed decline in our allies' view of us. Among the allies whose publics view us more favorably than in 2008 are Romney destinations Britain and Poland. Count for yourself.

5. Hugo Chavez "introducing" Hezbollah into the hemisphere on Obama's watch. Sadly, Hezbollah has been money laundering in the hemisphere since the 1980s and may have been involved in the Buenos Aires Jewish center bombing back then. Let's not give Chavez credit for stuff he only wishes he had been responsible for. It hasn't managed to pull off anything at all during the last four years -- as Obama pointed out recently.

Romney claimed in 1978 "My father and I marched with Martin Luther King Jr. through the streets of Detroit." When later news accounts questioned whether this had occurred, Romney said he had meant it as "figure of speech." He lied?

LONDON -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Wednesday said many of the weapons obtained by the shooting suspect in Colorado were obtained illegally and that changing laws won't prevent gun-related tragedies.

But the firearms that authorities allege James Holmes used to kill 12 people in Aurora, Colo., were obtained legally.

"This person shouldn't have had any kind of weapons and bombs and other devices and it was illegal for him to have many of those things already. But he had them," Romney told NBC News in an interview. "And so we can sometimes hope that just changing the law will make all bad things go away. It won't."

Holmes broke no laws when he purchased an assault-style rifle, a shotgun and Glock handgun, and he passed the required background checks.

Romney doesn't have to win the election to become the LIAR in Chief, he's got that sewed up right now. His very first ad revealed what he is---nothing but a liar who will do anything to become president. In that ad, he quoted Obama as saying, " If we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose," And Romoney tried to make it sound like Obama was talking about his own chances in 2012. Turns out it was a clip from 2008 where Obama was quoting what his opponent ( McCain) actually said. Romney was chastised for this deliberate lie, but even knowing the quote could not be attributed to Obama, he never apologized for the misinformation, but instead, let it ride while knowing it was not true.

In 1994, Romney attacked the "Contract with America" as a "mistake" that was "too partisan" even though it called for a balanced budget

Seems like the tea party dudes do not want to interact with you today. I wonder if it is because you are speaking the truth or if they are applying for the hundreds of good jobs available in Logan county, according to one of their members.

Romney Offends British Hosts On First Trip Abroad As Presumptive GOP Nominee

Diplomacy 101 FAIL

Mitt Romney, in his first trip abroad as the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, is trying to walk back comments he made questioning London's Olympics preparation -- comments that have drawn a sharp response from Prime Minister David Cameron.

The dustup began Wednesday, as Romney, who ran the 2002 Salt Lake City games, said there were "disconcerting" signs in the days before this year's games.

"The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials -- that obviously is not something which is encouraging," he told NBC News.

"Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? And that's something which we only find out once the games actually begin," he said.

Cameron soon rebuked Romney. "We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course, it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere," he said.

Lol....are you talking about Romney.....or Benedetti?

I am not a "Tea Party dude", but I don't really care for either one of them.

Romney, to me, is simply the lesser of two evils.

And Benedetti is just creepy. I always thought he enjoyed taking pictures of young girls a little too much. A friend told me one time...I don't know how true it is and this was years ago....that he made a pass at her during her Senior picture photo shoot.

Now I know I am probably going to get slammed for defamation of character or something, but I did say it may not be true.....but if it is? YUCK!

Questioning Mitt Romney’s claims that he left his corporate buyout firm in 1999 and wasn’t responsible for decisions made after that point, The Associated Press reports new information about his involvement over the next two years:

“Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has said he had no active role in Bain Capital, the private equity firm he founded, after he exited in February 1999 to take over Salt Lake City's Winter Olympics bid. But according to Bain associates and others familiar with Romney's actions at the time, he stayed in regular contact with his partners over the following months, tending to his partnership interests and negotiating his separation from the company.

Those familiar with Romney's discussions with his Bain partners said the contacts included several meetings in Boston, the company's home base, but were limited to matters that did not affect the firm's investments or other management decisions. Yet Romney continued to oversee his partnership stakes even as he disengaged from the firm, personally signing or approving a series of corporate and legal documents through the spring of 2001, according to financial reports reviewed by The Associated Press.

The details of Romney's contacts with his Bain partners between his 1999 departure and his separation from the company in mid-2001 could show how involved he was—either as CEO or passive investor—in several multimillion-dollar investment deals, bankruptcies, and a spate of layoffs and overseas job shifts at Bain-owned companies that reportedly occurred during that span.”

Since this thread is dedicated to Willard Mittens Romney I think it is safe to say I was talking about Wiilard. I don't know Benedetti, but I heard that he hosts the most marvelous tea parties where all who attend wear their finest crisp white linen with matching hoodies. It truly is a major social event.

Before he insulted GB's olympic efforts, the Liar in Chief claimed he was good "Buds" with Netanyahu, but Netanyahu claims they were just aquaintenances. Romoney will say anything to get elected. He's a snob even at universal level!

Romney said in Oct, 1994 that he will "Sustain and Support Roe v. Wade." He now tells us he is Pro Life. Which Mitt?

Wow, I can just see it now. Romoney, the snobby President who's idea of foreign policy is to insult our allies, one at a time!

Mitt Romney has already gotten in a spot of trouble in London for suggesting that Britain may not be quite ready to host the Olympic Games. Romney has walked back his comments, but it's not the first time the candidate has said some not-so-flattering things about the Sceptered Isle. In his book, No Apology, he writes:

England [sic] is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn't make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn't been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler's ambitions. Yet only two lifetimes ago, Britain ruled the largest and wealthiest empire in the history of humankind. Britain controlled a quarter of the earth's land and a quarter of the earth's population.
