For all of you who hate Rush Limbaugh so much, he predicted a year ago that the Obama Administration would get the unemployment number down to 7 point something right before the election. How can you want a group who will do anything for power, but will do so very little to fight our enemies or protect our citizens?

The fact that you ask the question suggests you don't understand how the figure is computed.

Unemployment rates mean nothing.

You're a dumbass, there's nothing political about this. The people who do the math on this are not political. The numbers are what they are and you are still a dumb hillbilly. Anyone who takes what fat boy limbaugh says seriously has a difficult time with reality.

Having the rate nicely under 8% will be a confidence booster for all Americans (except Republicans) and will remove one of Romney's main campaign points....8% or above for all of Obama's term. If anyone was still wondering if the general economy is headed in the right direction, they now have their answer.Just imagine how we'd be doing if Republicans had worked with Democrats to get the economy healthy, instead of obstructing every damn single attempt to do so.

Most are part time jobs not what America needs. Read a little further. Full time and part time are combined. Not as rosey as you want to think.

"Anyone who thinks that political folks can manipulate the unempt data are completely ignorant about how BLS works & how data are compiled. If the BLS could manipulate the CPS, the millions (billions?) of hours of analysis of the publicly available data would have uncovered it. Please, no conspiracy theory on the data. Republicans, you are better than this. Don't get desperate. I promise, when there are errors in publicly available govt data (like the BLS data), someone finds them." -- former Department of Labor Chief Economist Betsey Stevenson on Twitter

U6, the real number of unemployed, underemployed and those that stopped looking - unchanged. 38,000 mfgr's lost, most of the gains were part time. Politically it may look good but pain wise to Americans - not much of anything happened...but of course, the lefties don't care about substance - that why they favor Obama.

PS - the Labor Dept is also adjusting downward the number of jobs available. Reality - 23M folks are still unemployed.

http://portalseven.com/employment/unemploymen...

The real question - exactly what policies does this administration have in place that is causing any positive growth?

Obamacare? No
Stimulus? Didn't do much
Desire to raise taxes? Not exactly an economic stimulus plan per the President himself

The economy is resilient but there still is no plan in place which inspires confidence and there won't be as long as Obama is President. Watching him in the debate the other trying to act like he actually likes the private sector and free enterprise was amusing.

the fact checkerz @ wall steet never bought the bogus numbers, S&P & NASDAQ finshed lower and NYSE was up a tiny fraction due to stronger coal company stock prices, because President Romney's strong debate showing they might not go bankrupt next year.

Unemployment rates mean nothing.
For once, I agree with JC.
The problem with the rating system is that the results are based on polls, not data. Even I did not know this fact until recently.
Also, the %s that r released to the public r just one facet of the "info" that the Bureau of Labor Statistics compiles. Total info is available on the net.

Bureau of Labor Statistics - Employment Situation Report [FULL TRANSCRIPT]Headlines

October 4, 2012 - ForexTV.com (New York) by ForexTV NewsDesk Staff Reporter

The employment situation is a set of labor market indicators based on two separate surveys in this one report. The unemployment rate equals the number of unemployed persons divided by the total number of persons in the labor force, which comes from a survey of 60,000 households (this is called the household survey). Workers are only counted once, no matter how many jobs they have, or whether they are only working part-time. In order to be counted as unemployed, one must be actively looking for work. Other commonly known figures from the Household Survey include the labor supply and discouraged workers.

Sure you don't want to hear about some internal facts. The top two economist at the BLS are big Obama supporters and donnors. Nothing to look at here, hey pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

You agree with me all the time.

The numbers are not good. We didn't even create enough jobs to keep up with the number of people entering the workforce. The reason the rate went down is because more and more people are leaving the full time workforce. Very bad news.

The smart money doesn't only look at the unemployment rate.
