Don, I have to say, I think this is a very good post. Well written, heartfelt and spot on.<quoted text>Well, I don't post under a fake name, but I do know the family & they are great folks. It's hard to say why some people do as they do. We all have flaws & to judge another on his flaws is counterproductive. I had a brother who was an alcoholic. My parents "gave all that mortality can give" toward his recovery, but to no avail. He was killed in a booze related auto accident on labor day 1955. Thru out these 50+ years, our family has continued to search our souls as to why this WWII Veteran, who came from a family where booze was never, never used, ended his life so tragically. Was his dad a bad dad? Was his mom a bad mom? Did my brother & I slight him. Was it a result of his WWII service where he was a waist gunner on a B-24 bomber? Was it the "wild crowd" he "hung out" with? No one knows. If any of us had the answer to why some get "hooked," we'd be millionaires. One thing I do know is that this thread should never, never have been started. Please do not fault the family. They cannot help it. No one knows WHY?
I hope the families of the victims of these personal attack threads that keep popping up have the ability to get them removed.
