Milk price $6 a gallon

It's all Obama's fault!!!!

Because the Farm Bill has not passed in Congress, it is estimated that a gallon of milk could cost $6 as the price of wholesale milk soars.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said on Monday that milk prices will spike if a new Farm Bill isn't passed or the old one is extended before December 31.

The end of the year marks the end of dairy price supports. Farm policy will revert back to the 1949 Farm Bill and old parity laws will mean dairy producers could get twice the current cash price. Secretary Vilsack says that dairy processors would respond by raising their prices, too.

We should switch from cow to human milk.

Democrats have done a poor job of explaining that, apart from farm subsidies, the farm bill includes food stamps, school lunches and rural development money.

"A big failure of the Democrats is they have not explained the farm bill has broader economic and social implications,"
The LAST 'farm bill", was also known as the Monsanto bill.
Milk isn’t the only refrigerator staple that is fueling an uptick in food prices. Prices for snacks like chicken wings, chips and burgers have skyrocketed as much as 20 percent and an increase in the price of feed for pigs due to the drought could lead to a bacon shortage in 2013.

Vilsack's rhetoric typifies DC's attitude towards farmers and consumers. Ag policy favors dairy processors, cooperatives, and food corporations, not dairy farmers and consumers and certainly NOT taxpayers who must finance all the Farm Bill subsidies.

Isn't the farm bill a form of socialism?? I thought you good old boy republicans were against government programs. Isn't this also a form of farm welfare?

No charge baby.....no more handouts.

Last time I checked Boehner is not a democrat, baby.

The House Agriculture Committee this summer passed a five-year bill but House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said there are not a majority of votes in the House to support it. The bill cuts $16 billion from food stamp spending, angering liberals, but contains fewer cuts to farm subsidies than even President Obama had sought, annoying conservatives.

...I also see the word CONSERVATIVES in here...

Scientists have created genetically modified cattle that produce "human" milk in a bid to make cows' milk more nutritious.

"The modified bovine milk is a possible substitute for human milk. It fulfilled the conception of humanising the bovine milk."

List of “Ingredients” Added to Cow’s Milk

Here are just a few of the artificially-engineered components found in the average glass of non organic pasteurized and homogenized milk on the American dinner table:

•A Veritable Hormone Cocktail: including pituitary, steroid, hypothalamic, and thyroid hormones (remember most cows are extremely stressed)

•Gastrointestinal Peptides:
Nerve and epidermal growth factors, and the growth inhibitors MDGI and MAF

•rBGH (Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone): a genetically engineered hormone directly linked to breast, colon and prostrate cancer. This is injected into cows to increase milk production.

•Pus: National averages show at least 322 million cell-counts of pus per glass![2] This is well-above the human limit for pus-intake, and has been directly linked to paratuberculosis bacteria, as well as Crohn’s disease. The pus comes from infected udders on the cows known as mastitis.

•Blood Cells: The USDA allows up to 1.5 million white blood cells per milliliter of commonly-sold milk.[3] Yes, you are drinking cows blood in the milk and the USDA allows this!

•Antibiotics: Currently, cows are in such a state of disease and mistreatment that they are continually being injected with antibiotic medicines, and rubbed down with chemical-laden ointments to deal with their chronic infections. Currently, regulating committees only test for 4 of the 85 drugs in dairy cows. This means that the other 81 drugs in cow’s milk are coming directly into your glasses and bodies. Estimates show that 38% of milk in the U.S. is “contaminated with sulfa drugs or other antibiotics,” according to a study by the Centre for Science in the Public Interest and published in the Wall Street Journal on December 29, 1989. A study from the FDA data showed that over half of all milk was laden with traces of pharmaceuticals yet nothing has been done to control this.

Obama has dropped the price of gas to less than a three bucks and a quarter per gallon. It was higher than that under Busch Jr. Obama's got my vote in November.

Again, nice try. You and I both know no president has control over that. That is controled by the high rollers, the ones that get all the big tax breaks which the republicans do not what to eliminate.

Farm groups are likely to make a push for getting a farm bill passed immediately when Congress returns to work late next Tuesday. But few are betting that a new five-year law will be passed in the lame duck session.

"The House hasn't taken this up yet and I think it would take a full week. That week doesn't exist,".

The House won't really get to work until Wednesday, he said, and he's not certain whether it would remain in session on Friday before breaking for the Thanksgiving recess the following week.

When is a "Farm Bill" No Longer a Farm Bill? An Example of Broken Governance

What do you think the big Farm Bill that Congress passes ever 4 or 5 years is all about? Crop subsidies? Crop Insurance? Price supports? Export programs? Soil and land conservation?

If you think that is what the modern day Farm Bill is mostly about, you're still living in 1955. In fact, if you think the Farm Bill is about farmers, you're probably still living in 1955. It hasn't been for quite a few years now, and that explains, in part, why the current Congress has been unable to pass a new Farm Bill during this session. The last Farm Bill was passed under George Bush's presidency, in 2008. It has expired.

The current Congress has proven incapable and unwilling to pass a new one. And a big reason is that it is no longer a "Farm Bill."
