It has been reported that this "reverend" tells his followers that he is their "Earth Father" and a prophet. He convinced his followers to buy him a very large piece of land directly beside his home to build a compound on and they have purchased the land and are collecting to build the compound now. He said God came to him in a dream and wanted him to instruct them to do this. Last time I checked, there are not Bibles in the pews, but rather a charismatic leader that convinces an ever-growing group of followers to listen to his interpretation. One of his leaders I recently spoke to claims he is recieving instructions in his dreams to conduct a business venture to further fund this place. Sounds like a cult. Ok while I don't care for everything that goes on at COKC, I must say this post does not make sense. First of all Pastor Ricks could not buy a very large piece of land directly next to his home, since he lives inside city limits with no available land to buy. I will say there are some very good people at the church, and I have never heard Pastor Ricks claim to be an "Earth Father" or a prophet. It is a personal choice to attend any church, but to put out rumors about one is just wrong.

I do not know who you are and I really do not care. I have been a member of this church since 1989, and although I have not been to church personally for a couple of years, my heart is still filled with the love of Jesus Christ. I was a Baptist before I started there and then I became a Apostolic after that. I have to say that I never had a personal relationship with God until I started Christ Our King Church. Pastor Ricks is a marvelous pastor and man. If it had not been for him and his wife, Sheila, I would be dead right now or drowning in sin. They helped me to find Jesus and learn how to have a relationship with him. They have done nothing but good for this entire community. They have helped many lost people find their way to Jesus Christ and stay with him. To bad mouth either one of them is going to cause you many heartaches that you are not prepared for, nor will you ever be prepared. God tells us the penalty for speaking bad about any man of his Position in God. You must really have not got your way there to talk like this about them. I would say you have no Jesus and a whole lot of Satan speaking from your mouth. I'd be very careful, if I were you. You truly need Jesus. Now that is the truth.

"I would say you have no Jesus and a whole lot of Satan speaking from your mouth. I'd be very careful, if I were you. You truly need Jesus. No personal offense, dear Mary, but the Jesus I know...does not even judge, nor does he want any mortal to do so. He pretty much leaves that to God. Why don't you do the same? As far as Satan, I think some of the followers of this church...are possessed with a hatred of all God's children. Now I see by your post, that is a common thread in this church. I think you need a second opinion on what exactly the love of God is about.

I wonder about this church myself. Everytime I hear people speak about it they always state, "Pastor Ricks says...." I promise you that I have heard this phrase at least 30 times from different members. What's up with that? I sometimes wonder how many of his members would remain members without him? It seems to me that the members follow Robin Ricks; not so much the teachings of Christ.

i agree with wondering myself and hmmmm. when someone starts quoting "pastor says..." that is more like following man not God. I dont go around saying Pastor of my church says..... ihave never had that mind set. he does teach from the Bible and says more things like, In God's word, he doesnt want to take the place of God. I know many who attend COK but I do not believe it is a cult like mt taborwrongs.

I attended a lunch at the pastors house once and a young girl expressed interest in dating one of the men there. The pastors wife told her to seek Pastor Rick out and see if he approved of the two of them going out....way strange.

Rev Jones said 'this' and Rev Jones said 'that'....and finally his followers literally drank the kool-aid! That's why it is so dangerous to exalt any religious leader to a position where he is seen as God's mouthpiece.

Maybe you should learn too read and you will pass that test you failed.

I'm sure that if such a conversation did take place; it is being taken out of context. I'm sure that pastor Ricks' wife was directing the girl to seek counsel about her decision not "approval" as you are suggesting. Why exaggerate?

Can any of you spare 2 hours on Sunday, 10 to 12? Go to a service...you have nothing to loose and so much to gain. Oh, go early or you won't get a seat.

Why would it take two hours to hear the word? Get me in and out in 1/2 an hour and I'm there dude. 2 hours seems like enough time if you are trying top exert some mind control on the parishoners though. Think I'll just stay home with my own spirituality and experience MY god in MY way. Hard to get sucked into a cult that way. Then I truly will have nothing to "loose".

John 5:30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. John 8:16 But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. My bible says that JESUS does "judge"...maybe you ought to read the bible before you speak!
