Individuals are fired for incompetence and misconduct and then make wild accusations about the person that fired them. This is unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence in today's world. However, when you add a newspaper's proven track record of trying to vilify a particular religion, you end up with the St. Pete Times recent series of articles attempting, yet again, to demonize The Church of Scientology.

Any illusion of objectivity by the Times is ripped away by the fact that the Times unquestionably accepts as true statements from fired former staff of the Church and ignores their lack of credibility, their underlying motivations and the voluminous evidence proving their stories are false. Further, the Times refused to interview the very Church leadership they sought to malign.

The Church of Scientology has experienced unprecedented expansion under its current leadership which fired Rathbun and the other individuals who then decided to leave their religion.

Additionally, current Church leadership is responsible for expanding the Church's programs to promote human rights education and anti-drug education across the globe.

However, facts about the Church's anti-drug education program and human rights education activities are facts which the Times apparently must ignore, since it would clearly contradict 'their' version of Scientology.

Thankfully we live in the age of the Internet where people can find out for themselves about Scientology at our website www.scientology.org rather than listening to the biased agenda of others.

Find out for yourself about the Church's campaign to bring human rights education to help people everywhere avoid having their rights trampled on and to stand up for the rights of others. Learn about the Church's anti-drug education campaign, which is the largest non-governmental anti-drug campaign in the world.

There is a much bigger story that the St. Pete Times has completely missed. It is the story of how the Church of Scientology and individual Scientologists are tirelessly working to make the world a better place for everyone by promoting human rights and fighting to reverse the societal devastation caused by drug abuse.

Why are you already retreating into generalities in your first two sentences? The Old Man hated that.

You think its common for four+ people from the very top of the inner circle of an organization to come forward with identical accusations against the same man? And thats not even including John Peeler, Marc Headley, Jeff Hawkins, and Jesse Prince. For some strange reason, they all seem to think Miscavige beats people up too.

What? You mean this Pulitzer winning article?

No, they're yet again telling the truth about the Church of Scientology. Here's the link for your enjoyment.

Oh really? They did over 25 hours worth of interviews, including Tommy Davis.

Does anyone have his 'rebuttal?' It was quite funny to watch. He sounded alot like this guy.

Fired? Some of them barely managed to escape with their lives. Both Rathbun and Headley literally fled into the desert on motorcycles. Int goons even tried to run Headley off the rod.

DING DING DING DING

Finally.

What's your evidence they're lying?
Bruce Thompson wrote:

No, they refused to let him stall for time to silence Rinder and Rathbun. The SP Times was available to Miscavige atany time in person or over the phone. Besides, the world beyond Scientology isn't dictated by the midgets schedule.

No, actually the CofS has been imploding for quite some time now. You're down to an estimated 25000 Scientologists in the US; You're so tiny you're not even worth an explicit mention in this report.

Why is it the same exact story every time? Why was the former top executive ALWAYS fired? Why is he ALWAYS lying? But Miscavige? Oh, he's a regular George Washington.

I guess Larry Brennans lying too.

Yes, Bruce, thankfully we live in the age of the internet where people can read BOTH sides of an issue and make up their own minds. Feel free to visit:

Oh, wait. I forgot. if you are a scientologist you are NOT free to visit those sites. It might make you question the load of baloney you are being fed and that might cut off the stream of funds you are providing David "Slappy" Miscavidge. Never mind!

That's odd, as Rathbun and Rinder didn't get "fired", they left.
Why is it that your cult makes these kinds of statements after the fact and amongst a hill10 flap? Ya know, just like when Mary Sue and others were sent to federal prison back in 1977?

Here, let people read the reports over the years so they can decide for themselves if there's "villification" or just good journalism
http://www.tampabay.com/specials/2009/reports...
After all, you don;'t win a Pulitzer for poor or inaccurate journalism
Bruce Thompson wrote:

I have to jump in here, because your premise is inherently flawed, due to you unquestioningly accepting everything hubbard said/wrote to be true and the same goes for David Miscavige and you believing everything he states

Oh, so people should only ever accept information from a 'source' that has a vested interest in what is learned? That's not very "free to choose", is it<rhetorical>

Oh, so that's why it was thrown out of schools in your own country?

Oh Bruce, really now, why don't you come up to present time? Do you seriously believe that you can dead agent the St. Petersburg Times in 2009?

All those years. All those lies. For what? Just look at the stats at your own org. The real ones, not just the "wins" you get from dumping failed PR in forums like this. Look at your empty course rooms. Things are no better anywhere else in the world.

Unprecedented expansion? Where? Bigger, but emptier orgs are not indicative of expansion Bruce. Human Rights education? Anti-drug education? Who exactly are you trying to fool? Just more front groups for Scientology to hide behind in it's ongoing attempts to attain legitimacy where there is none to be found. Each and every time these groups have been identified for what they are, they've been dismissed outright.

Bruce, you really can make a difference in this world but it's time that you man up and do it on your own behalf for once in your life. You know that as well as anybody else does. Scientology had a good run, but it failed. It's over. The time has come for you to make amends to those you've hurt over the years (Katie would be a good start - remember Katie?), then collect whatever wins you've actually attained over the years and move on. A bright future awaits you. Your own future Bruce. A future free of the binds that have been holding you back for so long.

Good luck.

Scientologists don't say "Nanu Nanu". They usually just whimper, or sometimes cry out in pain as their abusive leader (David Miscavige) beats the crap out of them for little or no reason.

This is brilliant, is there a media group who isn't reporting the reports of Rathbun and Rinder?

I still can't believe it, we debated for a long time on ARS as to if these guys had blown or been RPFd, if they would speak out, there were even questions of them still being alive. To find out so suddenly that they blew and are well is impressive enough, but to have them announce it by going to the press is doubly amazing. From that we've had the SPT report, the other media outlets who reported on the story and adding add information they've received.....Some scientologist is having a terrible time right now, if miscavige was this bad before, just think what he'll be like now!

If you want to know what a man is like, don't just ask his ex-wife. Don't just ask ex-Scientologists about Scientology and think you're getting an accurate view!

My experience as a Scientologist has been very positive. My husband and I are closer now, after almost 30 years of marriage, thanks to Scientology. Our children are successful in school and work. We've been able to help friends and family members with the things we've learned in Scientology.

Shame on "journalists" who concentrate on the sensational without looking into the facts!

Scientology has always attacked those with a democratic right to disagree with it with sensationalism.
They invent and look for lies about who can oppose Scientology.
They forget as is indicated by bad press against them that they can be judged as they can judge.
Goebels of Nazi Germany was famous with propaganda & disinformation that obviously the Nazis all agreed was truth until defeated.
All Nazis continued being YES people to their Reich until defeated & could learn to know better.
I was In Scientology a very long time & was implanted into being only a YES person about Scientology.
I don't dislike everything about the knowledge in Scientology as these reinventions by the late Hubbard can be useful in life.
I do not condone though fanatacism that gets people conditioned & conscripted into following only one source of reference about the mind & spirit.
This is making oneself helpless whilst being forced into only accepting the only considered worthwhile help from one mind.
Obviously such help must continued been attained at a price.

That's the thing, the journalists HAVE looked into the facts and found scientology to be in the wrong. The CofS has lied about it's stats, it's membership, it's beliefs, it's activities, it's members activities. The CofS has lied about critics, people who leave, anyone who asks questions. They even lie TO the membership about these things. And when someone who has left tells their story about what they've experienced, the CofS says they're the ones who are lying. So far we've every reason to believe Rathbun and Rinder because they've admitted what they did for scientology and it fits with the facts. We've no reason to believe the CofS because it lies so regularly and never provides evidence of anything.

Just look at this case, in order to discredit the people who are speaking out, this is so called "church" gave over their confidential files. What does that say about the reliability of the CofS? Keeping confidentially gained material is less important than attacking the people it was forced from. Not a good message. In fact it proves our point.

Tommy davis has lied on international television about many things and been caught out, now he's calling Rathbun and Rinder liars. The hilarity.

"Carol Yingling" writes er... copies and pastes...

"If you want to know what a man is like, don't just ask his ex-wife. Don't just ask ex-Scientologists about Scientology and think you're getting an accurate view!"

This is one element of the scripted rebuttal that keeps popping up in response to the St. Pete times series.

It's an ironic example of the utter lack of critical thinking skills that Scientology is so famous for clearing from the "reactive minds" of it's followers.

In it's utterly laughable attempt to dead agent the four ex-management officials that came forward for this story, the cult of Scientology subjected the writers to a 25 hour ordeal featuring a parade of cult shills. This parade began with none other than the ex-wives of the three male officials, Tom De Vocht, Matt Rinder, and Marty Rathbun. Ex-wives who are still caught up in the cult, separated from their husbands as a result of the cults disconnection policy.

Apparently "Carol", we can go ahead and strike their testimonials, based on the scripted logic that you've forwarded here.

Also, considering that Scientology spokespersons, including Monique Yingling (any relation "Carol"?) and Tommy Davis made it abundantly clear during this bizarre ordeal that random acts of senseless violence have long been endemic within Scientology management, it would appear to anyone that is still in possession of their critical thinking skills that rather than discrediting the sources of this story, the cult has only succeeded in corroborating their claims.

Way to KSW "Carol". Please keep it coming

It is disgraceful & should also be illegal & criminal vindictiveness to use "confessions" or overts & withholds against anyone who comes to disagree & oppose Scientology.
People confess or give up overts & withholds including crimes through being coerced into doing this for the reason of releasing the mind from such imprisonment & must pay to do this.
To then use such supposed private confidences placed in auditors against anyone who comes to disagree & oppose Scientology is criminally unethical.
It shows a very backward mind that does this having no respect for a professional understanding of treating the mind.
It shows how Scientology is not big enough mentally to accept disagreement & Opposition & acts like any tin pot dictatorship.
Not even the Psychiatry that they venoumsly oppose would disclose case files of patients if they could comee under attack from such patients.
This can act as a warning to anyone wanting to join Scientology to NEVER EVER dosclose their overts & withholds lest one day they could come to disagree & oppose Scientology who would in turn attack them with their disclosed case.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Libra

An emotional situation is as clear as mud today. You aren't sure about your feelings for a certain someone, nor are you convinced that you know what they're playing at. They may be saying one thing and doing another, and you might even suspect that they're playing games with you or trying to get what they can out of the relationship. Or maybe you're imagining the whole thing? Admit it - at this stage you simply don't know.
