Be sure to avoid the "walkers" downtown. They are always dressed in white shirts and black pants. Usually in pairs or groups. Avoid them.

Sounds like Tim used to work at or date someone from Frenchy's because as anyone thats ever eaten there can tell you, Frenchy's is a fantastic restaurant. Good food, Friendly waitresses and bartenders and fun to hang at and people watch. He is correct about the Scientologists. They have ruined Clearwater and taken away alot of the TAX base. Zombified Buncha LOSERS. Too bad they dont know that you can learn any of what scientology teaches at the library without having to sign over your life and any maney you make for a billion years.
. I have vacationed in Clearwater (Sand Key) for 15 years and Frenchys is a great restaurant especially rock away on the beach. I too have looked to move and I actually visited many areas. Palm harbor is very nice.! Clearwater itself for houses are pretty much older
dated houses. Brandon Florida which is about 30 -40 min inland is nice as well. I personally will not buy a house in Florida due to their high insurance but I would rent even directly on the beach. I've stayed in sand key, Indian rocks. Indian shores. Madeira beAch, sunset beach, Daytona beach ft lauderdale and west palm beach and even Orlando! Oh and Bradenton beach. My favorite is still sand key Florida just south over the bridge from Clearwater. Kinda pricy but its nice

Frenchy's, just like everything else on the beaches... minus Silas Dents, is not very good food. It is good food to the tourists, must be, they seem to go there in droves. You wont find too many locals there because we know where to go for good food and less tourists. There are a handful of good restaurants on the islands, but most cater to tourists with bland taste-buds. This is coming from someone who has lived in Madeira Beach and Indian Rocks beach for years. Madeira is nice for partying with the less savory crowd when you want to get rowdy, IRB is nice for the residential feel. If you are looking for good food on the Beaches Silas dents is great for steaks and seafood, Crabby Bills is nice and not near as expensive as Silas, stay away from anything in John's Pass, Clearwater Beach is a tourist trap and you not get what you pay for, way overpriced and not well prepared food at most of CLW restaurants. Salt Rock Grill is nice in Indian Shores, as well as Guppies in IRB, but I prefer SRG over Guppies.

Thanks for all of your input!
Yours is a RIDICULOUS and ignorant statement. "Ghetto" has nothing to do with race. There are plenty of White Ghettos. Your map only shows the racial groupings of each neighborhood. That has nothing to do with poverty.

Even in a so called safe area crime can and will happen. I live in a sketchy part of towncleaveland/gulf to bay, drew area and I have had no issues with my safety. My neighborhood is relatively tight and clean just two streets over hookers and crack. Not my scene and I stay at the house and dont go to the store at night. when I go to work at my office there all in till night. I have been here for four years and has cleaned up alot. But I lived in safety harbor and you have crack hoods blocks away from million dollar homes. I would rather blend in a med neighborhood then be a target in a ritzy one. Think about it moving is a pain so its best to move once and be good then realize you moved to hell. Its really hard to know until you are there. I moved where I was comfortable day and night. The bad element has its playground. stay out of it and you should be fine. However even gated communities have problems, even if its the high dollar fake security. Also hold your ground when you do find a home. That way no one will mess with you.

Depends on your income, and likes. Personally, I LOVE my home. I HATE the trash that comes from the hotel up the road. I wish we could pick up our house and put it some place else. I hate to lose the charm, but the hoes are getting pretty bad, since the tourist season is getting longer. We're talking about going to North Pinellas. Old-ish charming homes, but not as many tourists, so less drama. I agree with whoever posted that the bayside is good.

Good for you Nancy!
If you make it back to FL, I hope everything goes well for you!
I once lived in Clearwater and loved it for real!
It does get hot n' humid, muggy in the summertime but no problem!
There's a different kind of scent too, I guess humidity, sand, palms
and stuff like that does it? I like that kinda FLA scent and feeling!
Best of all, it's in America where I've always felt the best!!
