Why is insurance so much cheaper if I buy it myself than through my employer?
My employer "pays for 1/2" of the $640 a bill coverage, leaving me with a $320 bill... however, I priced it out if I just get my own insurance, and for like $160 I can get what appears to be better coverage than I have now-$500 deductible,$25 copay, drug coverage, mental health benefit, etc. etc.

Why is this so? Is this because I'm a very healthy mid 20's male who lives alone? or is there some sorts of benefits I'm missing????
