You mean winter? Would you rather your kid be forced to go to school all through summer?...because that's the alternative.

Coat, hat, boots, gloves, they'll be fine, they're not going to freeze to death before they get to school.

Stop turning kids into sissies!

Why would they close the schools? Because it's cold?
Seriously, you're kidding......right?

Not closed maybe delayed. There are kids that catch the bus at 5:30 in the morning. Dark and all. That is not the safest situation all the way around. Other schools delayed in the state.....

"other schools in the state"....other areas of the state have several inches of snow & ice. Don't be jealous.

School wasn't delayed or canceled when I was a kid, waiting in freezing ass temperatures for a bus. Put a hat, coat & gloves on them, they'll be fine.

KIDS THESE DAYS ARE DAMNED SISSIES!!! Probably because their parents are sissies.

No wonder this world is going to hell in a hand basket, kids are so spoiled they can't even bundle up to catch a bus on a cold morning. Spoiled little brats!!!!!!

How wonderful it would be if ALL children had access to all the nice warm items you suggest they use to ward off the cold. Wind Chills are not something to sneeze at. I would think that society has learned a little something from the abuses some children had to endure growing up, as to not "Become a Sissy...."

There is help for people who need it. No, it's not just dropped into the laps of people who need it or feel they're entitled to it.

I don't care if you asked my opinion or not, you got it, didn't you?!

If you see a kid that needs a coat, go to the DHHR & get them one, there is a clothing pantry in Rand where clothing is FREE to anyone who will simply make an effort to go get it.

Give me a break lady, some people are just LAZY and don't want to be bothered with getting themselves up & out of the house to get their kid ready.

S-I-S-S-I-E-S!!!!!!

If you think schools should be closed in the winter time, the simple solution is that kids go to school in June, July & August to compensate, that way they don't have to worry about it being cold.

Let me guess, then you'd expect it closed when it's too hot, right?

No pleasing some people.

You may need to recall my original post: "NOT CLOSED, BUT MAYBE DELAYED..." a two hour delay is smart....let's guess....you come from a generation of children that have no value.....and why do you think DHHR should provide that coat.

Cora is a great example of successful volunteerism...Most of the clothes at CORA were donated by people like me.....You need to reasses calling anyone lazy. The ORIGINAL POST was concern for the safety of the children.....not a forum for your anger at others..

i come from an area that didn't close the doors to the school every time it snowed or got cold. i even had to stand at the bus stop in this weather. and i'm sure most of the older people on here didn't even have buses. they actually had to walk in it. as far as i,m concerned its stupid. you wouldn't survive if it really snowed!!!!!!!!!!

Most kids anymore are sissies. Their parents treat them like babies when they are teenagers. Everything has to be fair and political correct if you think this country is screwed up now wait about 20 years when these spoiled little bastards are the so called working class and they think everyone owes them something because mommy said I am special.

when i was a kid, i lived at the end of the pavment an the kids above me walked 1/2mile in snow to our knees an waited on the bus. yes my mom let them come in an get warm but their mommas didnt drive them down or sit with the cars running to keep them warm. yes its cold but as a mother myself i think we have spoiled our children way to much over everything an it get pretty pathedic when that includes the weather. if its that big of a deal home school..fixes all your issues with public school

Yes, people. Times are different. Times change. Get over the fact that kids gotta miss school for a day or two. Sometimes in most schools water lines end up being frozen. Or there's lots of snow and it's dangerous for kids of being out.
