Feb 16, 2011 Full story: Http 255

By a narrow margin and after heated debate, the Belle Vernon Area School Board Tuesday approved a preliminary budget that, if unchanged, would require the real estate tax rate to be raised much more than allowed under a state index.

When are you people going to wise up and pin these thugs to the wall. Tax hike after tax hike and all they have are lame excuses. Patterson needs to go as he has fed these useless teachers long enough. Same goes for the rest who keep voting for these tax hikes. The BVASD is loaded with corruption and this little group is holding every homeowner hostage. Same goes for NBV and Rostraver who also would screw up a one car funeral. These councilpersons and commissioners are devoid of any common sense whatsoever and they have an attitude on top of it. Start attending these meeting and let these rats know who they work for!

I been reading about these tax hikes and it's driving me crazy. I know we have to pay teachers and the staff, but the cuts they made should pick up the million dollar tab on all the salary increases. They say they saved 1.2 millions last year ok surplus of 200,000. They got back 1.5 million from switchin insurances. That's 1.7 million plus they say save another 1 million this year. That's a grand total of 2.7 million floating out there what happened to it?

Is it true that School Teachers do not pay state taxes on their salary? Why should a teacher that retires get the same retirement salary as their teachers salary?

I hope someone out in Cyber-space knows the answer to these questions I ask...

I have a friend who is a teacher. Teachers pay state tax and another small percentage teacher tax. They get 85 percent of their salary unless they want to teach for 40 plus years then that goes up. I think people don't understand 48 percent of america pays taxes if you cut their pay that is less coming in the federal state and local governments. How about making some of that 52 percent start paying something.

Right, give the morons more money and screw the homeowner and the honest working person. The school board consist of retards and the teachers need to be educated before they can 'teach' anything. BTW are you are grad of BVA? It's THEIR, not THERE!

I did graduate from Belle Vernon. I remember asking the teachers a lot of questions, and they never knew the answers. You're right about the teachers being uneducated.

And as corrupt as you can get. There is a woman and I use that word loosely who resides in the Orchard plan of Rostraver and she tried everything and I do mean everything to get her son in law hired as a principal in the BVA school district. This skank has some dubious connections with the commissioners in both Rostraver and WT. DP who has been on the school board 'forever' is doing what he can to pull strings for this witch! It was in the 'Valley' months ago if you want to read about it. Her son in law is an incompetent boob with a sub standard education like most teachers have. Don't forget the BVA school board is raising property taxes to compensate these ignorant scum for doing nothing. Additionally two more prop taxes are on tap for the next two years because not one of these rocket scientist knew we were in a deep recession but what the hell give these morons more money and let the homeowner eat dog food and possibly lose their home. I'll bet you even know who I am referring to regarding the 'skank' who lives in the Orchard plan. Everyone knows her and her scum family who came over here from north Belle Vernon in the Eighties. If you don't ask around because she and her husband claim to be involved with antiques and you do not want these people in your house. I know of several people who caught them stealing, BEWARE! She drives a beige Cadillac.

I agree there are bad teachers in BVA, but I remember some great ones. I been hearing there is a great staff in the district. They been hiring the best candidate every time instead of a name.

Thanks for bringing up the 'relationship' issue. I've said it for many years and they claim it's not true. You can pull the list just like the county courthouse where they are almost all related too. It is BULLSHYT!

We cannot blame the teachers for this tax hike---the BOARD is responsible. IF someone offered me that contract, I'd accept it. However, not ALL current board members are responsible. Put the blame on those members who are responsible; Remember, three remain who voted for this mess: Messrs. Bialon, KRAFT, and Patterson. Mr. Sepesky voted NO. Remember this when you go to the polls.

I certainly CAN blame the teachers as they are as guilty as the school board, however in this matter I will agree especially about the three morons who voted yes and especially Patterson who has worn out his welcome a very long time ago. Just how the hell do these idiots think people are going to be able to stay in their homes let alone EAT! They knew what the condition of the economy was as far back as 2004-2005. Only thieves would do this and they deserve to be tried and convicted.

The superintendent of BVA
($130,000) is NOT a taxpayer of the district. However, he is constantly comparing our educational system with Upper St. Clair and Mt. Lebanon. The people in OUR district CANNOT afford this tax hike; what is it that he doesn't understand? We do not all have HIS income or the RETIREMENT he will receive which will be based on his highest salary for three years. And, IF he should remain at $130,000 for the next three years, you divide that total by three and THAT will be his retirement income. And, I do believe he has 40 years in education to qualify. I understand (STRICTLY rumor) that this year he received a $7500 raise and that he and the other administrators have agreed to take a ONE year pay freeze. Why not a THREE year pay freeze?

How can you blame the teachers? Sure they get raises but after talking to some of them they took concessions with this contract. The district got a CHECK REFUND for 1.6 MILLION dollars when the teachers signed the contract since they switched insurances. Plus the district would save 3 MILLION over a 3-4 year period. That's 4.6 million dollars surplus just by passing this contract. Check out the stadium now (new bathrooms, iron fence, flat screens), check out the multiplex with all those expenses. NONE of that benefits education. Go ahead and blame the teachers. They even said in the paper they cut staff last year by 1.2 million and 1 million this coming year ADD IT UP 6.8 MILLION DOLLARS. Guess what the raises are less than 1 million.

How about lets start cutting some of the positions that were created in that district. The first that comes to mind is that Jesse Cramer has 2 / 3 unnecessary titles. This guy just keeps sliding under the radar because everyone is afraid of his other full time job as magistrate. Come on school board grow a set and remove some dollars and titles from this man.

Would you mind naming those concessions? EVERY employee had his insurance changed. Were you at Monday's meeting? Did you hear what their co-pay is for a doctor's visit? How about $5? Is THAT a concession? Do you even know what the staring salary is? How about $44900 with a bachelor's and $46000 with a master's? And, very few new hires are started on the first step. The last seven new hires salaries ranged from $47000 to $58160. You evidently are asking the wrong people questions and certainly are getting the wrong answers.

Good for you for being so well informed...more people should be. He likes to spend money, our money. Sure he is a taxpayer in BELLE VERNON BOROUGH which is Fayette County and maybe with his magistrate's salary plus his AD salary, facilities salary, and what is the other, event supervisor salary...too many...too much, He should be able to afford the possible 1.34 (not sure of the exact) tax incrase because he is not in WT having to pay for sewage or RT having to pay the possible increase of 4.74(not sure on this but close). And, you're right; he has the GET OUT OF JAIL FREE card.

Yes indeed. Cramer, Dalfonso and Christner, 3 big jokes and corrupt as hell! All three need to be investigated thoroughly by the state AG. Dalfonso is or was part owner of BIGS garbage hauling which has a nice contract with Rostraver. This is illegal yet that clown Martin had something to do with that deal. Christner runs the Rostraver PD and also is Martin and Lorenzo's puppetmaster! Cramer is a joke also. All three if investigated properly would be throw out at the very least!
