Will new convention center max out Nashville's credit? Critics fear it will

Full story: Fairview Observer

If Nashville builds a new $600 million downtown convention center and a $300 million hotel, will it be able to build much else anytime soon? That's a question critics of the project have started asking.

I hope the Convention Center is a "no go". I am tired of seeing the tax payers consistenly put at risk. The same lie is always told that there will be no impact on the taxpayer. Anyone that has lived here any time knows better.(The Sommet Center is one example). We have Gaylord Opryland which is about to expand and that is plenty for a city this size. Other cities who have built these enormous new centers struggle to book dates anywhere near capacity. There are only so many big conventions that are held in the U.S. each year and too many cities competing for their "piece of the pie".

I hope the Covention Center deal falls through!!!!
Everyday we see something in this city being cut, whether its' TENNCARE receiptants, or day care funds,or jobs. Hadn't we rather be a city that is known for helping our residents and fellow neighbors, than trying to attract businessmen meetings planning more ways to rob the American People? Nashville may look prettier on the outside, but truth be known, it will look alot uglier on the inside. People living in shelters or New Convention Center? What would Jesus DO?

Your state government has been hijacked by persons who could care less about ordinary tax payers. They cater to the wealthy and to those who will re elect them.

"Nashville may look prettier on the outside, but truth be known, it will look alot uglier on the inside".

Trust me , it looks ugly as it is nothing more than the state capital of a felon factory and the sex offender/pedophile capital of the world

"People living in shelters or New Convention Center"?
Those in power could care less where the poorer tax payers live, as long as those in power get to live the life of aristocracy.

"What would Jesus DO"? Fire and brimstone raining down on the criminals who rob you

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Taurus

Make a big effort to spend time with people you didn't see on Christmas Day, especially if they're older than you or are having a bad time at the moment. You're brimming over with compassion and empathy, which will be really appreciated by anyone who's on the receiving end of them. You're also in the mood to make allowances for people, and that will help enormously.
