Well, it appears that with the failed attempt to recall 3 members of the current City Council that the recent improvements of the tarnished Maywood Police Department will continue. A new Chief of Police and the hiring of several new Officers has made a dramatic improvement in the quality of Police Services. Hopefully the City Council and the Police Department will keep working together to improve the quality of life for the cities residents.

Us guys in Maywood thought BG had it good with their PD, but now we hear your chief has no huevos and is led around like a puppy on a leash by the council.

Things have and will change. We finally got a real Chief. The Chief really seems to care about the P.D. and the officers. Some don't like to do their jobs or be held accountable but oh well, quit or go some where else. Good luck BG

I would like to know who in real life this Flatfoot is. He has made some really strong statements about some of the Officer's at Maywood PD. It is easy to hide behind the anonymity of a web posting and throw stones. Flatfoot was probally fired from a Police Department before coming to Maywood PD.

And yes, we hope that the new Chief has a pair. We will have to wait and see.

Regarding stones. You stated, "No more flunkies that shouldn't even be cops." Call me crazy it sounds like you threw stones. Ok, Flatfoot maybe you didn't get fired, you simply resigned in lieu of termination.

Well maybe if the Officers from BG, Maywood, Bell and Huntington Park would band together against these PRO LA RAZA councils. There has always been strength in numbers.

Flatfoot. I am sure you are full of it. You have no idea who I am or what I have done in my career. All I hear is a lot of you telling everyone else how bitching you are. If you are at Maywood PD the simple fact you aren't now or ever were that great.

You got problems at Maywood just like every PD has problems. Southgate does, Baldwin Park, etc. Sounds like some of you don't want to be professional, want to keep your old ways...

Maybe Maywood PD has problems. But to say Officers don't want to be professional is a bunch of crap. The fact is that the current Administration has no idea of the big picture. They (the Admin) has never dealt with the issues currently confronting the City of Maywood. This is not South Orange County. The City needs Officers who understand the problems (gangs, drugs, etc.) and not pay lip service to the community. The Admin wants cops writing tickets to poor, struggling immigrants for vending without a license. Where are their priorities really at?

Well stay hopeful young man...but gangs and drugs are all over, not just in Maywood so what helps deal with those things can work anywhere, just look at LA and Bratton.
Sometimes you need to quit complaining and try to work together...in my time working in Southgate I saw that everyone in that dept seemed to want to have their own way. If they don't get it they try to raise problems...childish and "unprofessional." Just take a strong look in the mirror.... Hopeful is good... And my comment obviously doesn't apply to all but does to the culture...
