There isn't any problem with someone taking their kids or grand kids for rides. The problem is they take no safety precautions at all Ryan. No helmets nothing. and I've seen as many as three little kids on one four wheeler with one so called adult. You would think they would know better. THAT'S what makes it a problem. Yesterday I saw a full grown man with a five year old (again with no safety helmet or any sort of protective gear) almost get creamed by a truck because they were in the middle of the street just past the corner that the truck came around. Its a blind corner and that little girl could have died because her uncle is an idiot. Its scary.

I understand that, KIDS need the safety equipment. But you got people complaining also about full grown adults. I can understand a general concern for safety. But some people have got to start minding their own business. I know I dont want people in my business. Do you?

The problems started when the Full grown adults started acting out on the 4 wheelers, and then the kids try it, and then you have the city shutting everyone down. I have personally seen 3 or 4 ATV'S with adults on them popping wheelies, and acting crazy, and unsafe. Some adults just do not think about the consequences of their actions, and how those actions might effect everyone. "Ryan", it is not about people minding their own business, it's about wanting to feel safe while I drive my car on the street, or while my children are playing outside, I don't want to have to worry about them getting hit by an out of control idiot. Know what I mean? I never complained, I was just observant, and kept the kids close to the yard, or in it.
The few idiots ruined a good thing for all. We really cannot expect that the city to allow wheelies, and racing up and down the roads, now could we?? Major Safety issues, and law suits from those that get hurt, or into an accident with someone else. Simply better safe, than sorry. Have a good day.

MY neighbor called me yesterday to make sure my kids were in the house because the adults were driving so erratically they almost hit someone. That's the kind of people who kill the fun for everyone.

Right, but your talking about MASS punishment? How is it right to screw everyone over the mistakes of a few? I see mass punishment all the time, I do. And I personally believe that its wrong! I can understand concerns for the kids. Be a community, and talk to the parents. If the parents dont do anything, take it up with the city. You guys have got to start doing things the proper way if you want to help fix BC. Dont just get on topix hoping to fix the situations, or at least make everyone aware.

On another note, where is the town cop? Gone again? Start blaming the city for some of this crap, and maybe things will get fixed. Thats all anyone here wants, am I right?

Do this thing through the proper channels. "Just Me", if someone called you, then grab that parent, along with other parents who feel the same, and go to city hall and file a complaint. If you guys take it seriously, and harass the hell outta the city, then you might accomplish something.

Ryan, the city is following the ordinance on ATV riding in the city. The ordinance states; If you do not have insurance, a flag, and an operators license, you are not to be on the streets with an ATV, or motorcycle. The city was looking the other way, because they knew that the kids had little to do in the town. The young adults who have little to no sense when it comes to riding these dangerous things, and they're only dangerous because of how they are being ridden. Their behavior caused the city to start looking at the situation closely, and the city did not want to be hit with a law suit because of negligence. These young adults would pop wheelies, do donuts, and race 90 to nothing around town endangering me, and my family. Also, the town cop is in town about 95% of the time, so YOU are wrong about that. You are over in Afghanistan, and that is where you should keep your focus, not on stuff back here in BC, especially when you do not know what is going on. I appreciate your service to our country, as I do my father in laws, husband, daughter, nephew, and numerous cousins, but you say things that you really know nothing about. The cop is doing a good job, and is living in town, regardless of where he had to choose to live in order to get the job, which is the old city hall/jail. The man is still complying with what the city expects of him, and gets little money for it. Please focus on where you are for your safety, and let us worry about the home front.

Then take this up with the cop, and quit complaining on here. Believe me, I dont have much to worry about now. My jobs done, I'm packing my bags to come home. I do have concern, because in less than 3 or 4 months, I will be back there. I have my right to be concerned. For the love of god, just go get the cop if you have those issues, and stop the complaining on topix. Topix doesn't get issues fixed, you taking part in the solution does.

"Ryan" The police were contacted, and the problem is solved. The ones that caused the problems got shut down, and told they would get a ticket if they rode in town illegally again! Yes, Mass punishment is the only way to solve the problem! If you do not have the proper insurance, license, and flag, you are not allowed to ride on the streets! Dude, you are being a DRAMA KING saying "I have the right to be concerned". Concerned about what?? We are not expecting to get things fixed on here, because it is already fixed. You say things without even knowing the facts. Just chill, and not worry about here, until you get here. Only worry about those things that effect you directly.

"Ryan" Cool the jets! What part of this statement did you not comprehend? "The city was looking the other way, because they knew that the kids had little to do in the town. The young adults who have little to no sense when it comes to riding these dangerous things, and they're only dangerous because of how they are being ridden. Their behavior caused the city to start looking at the situation closely, and the city did not want to be hit with a law suit because of negligence". In the statement, it clearly states that the city did something about the problem, and why they had to do it. You really need to start reading carefully, and trying to comprehend the entire statement. You are trying to make out like because you are in the service in Afghanistan that it somehow makes you oh so wise and wonderful. It doesn't. You are just a kid, in a country not your own. You have a few years before grasping the reality of living with a family of your own, and the concerns of parents when there is danger around. You may have some danger around you in Afghanistan, but it is not your family; when it becomes personal to you,(kids, wife, etc..) then you will understand our concerns, and this topic. Be Safe, and don't worry about this topic. It will be over before you get back here. Just be safe Kid! I apologize for calling you a drama king.

funny thing about that, new cop living in the old jail, who's paying all his power, sewer, water bills? lmao

I certainly do not mind paying for the power, sewer, or water, if it means he is in town doing his job, and he is. If we could afford to pay him more, it would be great, but since we can't, the little bit of water, and electric he uses is not going to break anyone. Have a good day.

Guest345 I'm with you. Dan Kinder is a good cop and hes fair. That's really hard to find especially in Stoddard county. Lol you should start counting your blessings instead of your money. I mean, really, how much of that actually comes out of YOUR pocket? about fifteen cents?

Dont worry about the drama king thing. And, I don't believe I should have to tell you, but I do have a family. So yeah, I'm happy the city did something about it, and I was trying to help you guys out. Especially not knowing, due to UNSTATED facts, that you finally got a cop. Congrats on that! I dont care if the guy lives in town, thats their business.

Just next time, before you keep the topic going like this one, put up some updated facts. Thats all I'm asking for.
not a big deal

Ok so this all boils down to revenue. It's not that big a deal to buy a $10 sticker for your vehicle or show proof of insurance and a valid drivers license. If you don't have this then yeah, you should get a ticket. Dan is pretty laid back, so i really doubt he will get all stupid about people riding in town, as long as your going the speed limit and not acting like a douchebag... which unfortunately is how over half the idiots in this town ride. I was kinda dissapointed when the kid flying past my house on his three wheeler popping a wheely wasn't pulled over and ticketed (dan was out of town)... Maybe the next time they race by I'll get the cop and let him start making the city some money...
