It does strike one as odd. Most outdoors people regardless of if they hunt and fish seem to be able to differentiate between wildlife and humans quite easily. It is the urban basement dwellers that pretend to be "as one" with mother earth that have the most erratic and downright scary ideas most thinking people have ever seen.
It is not a difficult concept. Respect nature, treat it as the God given gift that it is, including the bounty given us to harvest to feed our families.
Yes, our family does not "trophy" hunt. We hunt for purposes of meat in the freezer.
Good post golf guy.
Excellent post. I hunt for the enjoyment of the time in the woods, but also for the "trophy" - which to me is the meat. I respect the animal and it does NOT go to waste. The bottom line, however, is that the life of an animal is not equal to the life of a human. Without hunting, the habitat could not support the increasing population. It is very satisifying to me to take part in all aspects - the hunt, the harvest, the butchering, the cooking and the enjoyment of the meat. If you are a vegetarian, I am sure this makes absolutely NO sense. I hope that if you enjoy eating meat, whether you hunt or not, this makes some sense to you.

EASY!!

Hunters will also be POACHERS!!

When and if they get the opportunity

comparable to stealing free stuff from work
if no one is looking!!

It is human nature so stop lying because it
has been in the news this hunting season!

Just get rid of that ugly statue, you already kill one helpless animal with it.

I like how the statue of an animal is more valuable to this person the the real thing. Stupidity at its finest.

Hunting (OTHER THAN TO EAT, which these days is mostly unneccessary) is taking a life for pleasure irrespective of the value (or not ) of the life you are taking. Jeffrey Dahmer killed animals without mercy and its a fact that psychopathic tendencies show up first in this way. Apart from the morality of hunting, I object to this reprehensible schadenfreude at the expense of this poor bloody creature.
Golf Guy I hope you enjoy decaying away in your Florida retirement village, in the land of the fat, infirm and elderly.
Hunt to eat by all means, but to get a boner from the act of killing in an unfair fight with a 'dumb animal' is what sickens me. As soon as you equip a deer with a rifle and teach it to shoot giving it a fair shot at defending itself, I might have some respect for this so-called 'sport.'

Hardcore I agree with you completely.

So you are in texas and you have to go to a blog up here just to find something to get wanked about? What a fulfilling life you must lead.

Are you a vegetarian? I could blab on about what a stupid sport I think cricket is, but I have never played it. My opinion about something I have never done is really not worth the time it takes to express it.

Your arguments hold no water golf guy, I don't have to shoot myself in the head to know its a bad idea! Cricket sucks I agree with you on that, bores me rigid. I have no issue with you, I don't know you. I don't wish death on you, I just feel strongly as I imagine you do over there in the opposing camp. Part of respecting nature is respecting life and treating it with due reverence wherever you find it (despite your hunting views)I think this deer dumb as it is needs to be given a little dignity.

You lie, o fishnchips breath, you do wish death on me, you said you wish I'd get hit by lightning. By the way, my "retirement village" , is a four bedroom house on a golf course, but thanks for thinking of me. Also, get your people straight, I didn't mention cricket. Me thinks your lift doesn't go all the way to the top floor, if you get my drift.

I'm not golf guy. I respect your right to have your view, as I hope you would respect mine. I am still curious as to whether or not you are a vegetarian. As you did not respond strongly that you are, I suspect you are not. If you are, my apologies. If you are not, how is your picking up some prepackaged meat at the market somehow better than my hunting? I have the utmost respect for the animals I hunt. I have a responsibility to them to ensure as quick of a death as possible. I have a responsibility to make use of the meat they provide. I have the utmost respect for nature. While it might be too far to say we have too many deer, we MUST keep the population in check. What do you know about the cow, the pig or the chicken you had for dinner? I know EXACTLY where my dinner came from, and it is a whole lot healthier for you than anything you can buy in the market. Pig or deer, goat or elk - an animal life is an animal life, is it not?

Isn't it curious how the antics of a buck in rut, which would have to qualify as about the stupidest animal alive during that time frame, got morphed into a discussion like this? LOL.
I am with you. Being out with my wife and kids, enjoying our day and the surroundings is time well spent. During the season we hunt together. I cannot think of a better way of teaching responsibility to our kids. Not to mention they get to be active participants in stocking the freezer for winter!
I would trust my 13 and 14 year old kids taking a stroll through the woods with thier 12 ga's before I trust many other kids behind the wheel of a car.
Our hunting produces aveage results at best, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Sorry to hear your kids are such a disappointment that you think other parents cannot trust thier own kids.
My son and daughter have been familiar with safe use of firearms since they were 8 years old.
Yes, I trust them, and when hunting it is a given, yes I trust them with my life, and also thiers.
If you cannot trust your kids like this, sorry to be you, but please do not take them hunting. It might not be you they harm.

Well Rosie, I have a lot of fans who I appreciate very much. Why topix didn't allow you to spell superman, is beyond me. By the way, I don't carry my golfballs in a sack, my caddie takes care of those things.
