The legislature needs to do what it has failed to do for many years, count the beans, and make sure the outgoing pile isn't bigger than the incoming one. They have been operatiing with smoke and mirrors for decades, and we are now about to pay the consequences.

My husband has not worked full time since August. he has a 400.00 job a month from a 3000.00 dollar job a month. He never went to the unemployment, he say's as long as the Lord provides, we will be fine. It's all about papa's, rice, beans and, tortillas. it's tough out there so, keep us in your prayer's as We do for all of you.

Every GOP member claims our problem is a liberal agenda and do not want any more taxes and hurt small business. But the problem is clearly a lack of revenue. In particular, property taxes. You could cut every state worker and barely meet the deficit. That is going to hurt small business and big business too. Two reasons: 1) no credit as our credit ranking sinks to the bottom and 2) no job + no money = no business.

TAXES????? why do i have to pay more taxes so the government can spend my money to the unions and government employees? stop spending more then what you bring in. if you spend your money the way the government does... you'll be homeless. where are the guarantees and endless benefits for those in the private sectors like the government employees? lets take money from the government employees and politicians to keep those in the private sector employ. More pay cuts and lay off more people in the government sector for the sake of the 11.5% without a job. keep taking more of their money and laying off more of them until we have 0 unemployment...i think it's fair. if you think taking more of my money to give to the others is the way out then this is my solution to the problem.

It's interesting to know that 18% unemployment rate only applies to the private sector not the public sector. In 2008, not a single LA county or city worker got fired! Yet the business owners and workers bear the brunt of this recession. Moreover, one in 5 received some kind of public assistance in 2008. With the shrinking tax base, it will be also interesting to know when economic will recover!
