Oh how true. Us as Americans generally do not ask, or demand such things. Special interests do, which in no way represent what main stream Americans even think about.
We don't care about the "reform" as it's labeled any more than we asked for CAFE standards for the auto industry, seat belt laws or smoking bans.
Are we, as citizens about done playing sad sacks and ready to put an end to the silliness and harm those in office are busy creating?

"A welder wearing a National Rifle Association jacket ..."

How is a description of the man's clothing relevant? How many people were wearing ACORN or GLT alliance T-shirts, AARP pins, or ACLU pins at this event? What passes for "balanced" journalism is a joke.

Really? How 'bout the person who believes they have coverage and are denied for an unexpected illness? Or...bankruptcy because they cannot afford care? Where are your Conservative family values now! So you don't care if the guy in the elevator with TB coughts on you. Under a better system he may have been able to stay healthier.

Those aren't reasons to over-turn the best health care system in the world. You can give poor people health insurance if you want without creating equal misery for all, you commie.

From the Article by Byron York called “GOP thinks the unthinkable: Victory in 2010”

A quote:
"I think what's going to happen is Obama's going to be fine, and the Democrats in Congress are going to get their asses kicked in 2010," says one Democratic strategist who prefers not to be named.

"This is following a curve like the Clinton years: take on really controversial things early, fail, or succeed partially, ask Democrats to take really tough votes, and then lose. A lot of guys are going to get beat, but the president has time to recover."
You see, even a democrat STRATEGIST sees that this is going the way of 1994. A PERSONALLY popular president, but the nation thinks his policies suck.
In recent weeks, poll after poll has shown Republicans neck-and-neck, or even ahead, of Democrats. Even a National Public Radio survey found Republicans in the lead.

"There's no question that you're seeing a shift across virtually all the polling," says one GOP strategist, "with Democrats losing ground."
EVERYONE sees what is happening in the polls. The democrats are governing against what the nation wants.
And what if the Republicans stage a comeback? Some Obama supporters think it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. "The truth is, Democratic presidents do better when there's a Republican Congress," says the Democratic strategist. "If there were a Republican Congress, there would be things that are non-starters."
Obama supporters even ACKNOWLEDGING that maybe it WOULD be better if the republicans made a comeback.

Think about that. Obama could blather about his “lefty” ideals, knowing the nation and the REPUBLICANS would hold to the center right on the governing. He'd suddenly have to STOP bashing republicans because they would be the KEY to his success.
Things like a public option in health care reform, a massive cap-and-trade energy scheme, and all sorts of tax increases. In other words, proposals that are popular with the Democratic base but unpopular with the independent voters who hold the president's fate in their hands.
The REPUBLICANS would stop those incredibly stupid liberal policies. And Obama could just do his teleprompter bullsh*t that everyone likes to hear, but doesn’t like his ideas.
A Republican victory might not be so bad for a president with re-election on his mind. With a GOP House, Obama would be tugging the debate toward the left, appealing to independents and keeping his Democratic supporters happy. With liberals like Pelosi and Henry Waxman running the House, Obama will be increasingly forced to fight his own party by tugging the debate toward the right -- not a formula for Democratic unity.
So imagine that.

Obama has a better chance of LOOKING successful if the republicans take control, because the REPUBLICANS will put the economy back on track again.

And Obama will take the credit, while the republicans put the brakes on the liberal stupidity.

How many of you democrats are ready to fall on your sword and have your careers ended?

And Obama gets re-elected?

You'll lose your job so that Obama can be nothing more than a figure head.

You ready to do that? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

It's time the democrats realize, you don't TEAR DOWN A HOUSE TO FIX A LEAK IN THE ROOF.

You improve the current system.

Whole Foods has a fantastic program with MSAs. EVERYONE is happy and the health care costs are LOW.

Democrats just deride that idea. Great. THEIR way or the highway.

The DEMOCRATS will be on the highway after 2010.

Why not make the health insurance ABSOLUTELY tax deductable for businesses AND people to help even out the discrepency with employer provided?

What about MSAs, huh?

How about small subsidies for purchasing? Hmmmm?

Tax credits for the marginal incomes?

There are actually 27 million "americans" (Not illegal workers) in the nation that are uninsured.

HERE'S an idea...27 million dollars. a million to each, in a MEDICAL SAVINGS ACCOUNT.

Tell them "spend it wisely on your health. Because there's no more."

Think about THAT one...27 million. Not billion or TRILLION... like the democrats spew about spending. 27 MILLION.....(less than what was spent on that stupid cash for clunkers)

And all the "uninsured" americans in the nation are COVERED...and it's a dam* SIGHT CHEAPER THAN ANYTHING THESE IDIOT DEMOCRATS are talking about.

Only 27 million......

COMMON SENSE people...think it through...common sense...

The beauty is, even democrat strategists see what is happening to the democrats in the polls.

It has all the ear marks of 1994. The rising wave of anger, no one boogeyman, can't find anyone to blame for it....

Out of control anger against what the democrats are doing....and like 1994, they'll get b*tchslapped again.

And it took them over 10 YEARS to recover from that stupidity.

They never learned the real lesson of 1994, which was about BIG PARASITICAL government.

So again, they're confused, bewildered, as that idiot Claire McCaskill said "I just don't know what to say" when the town hall people said NO! when she asked them if they trusted her.

Typical liberal stupidity. You didn't LEARN the CORRECT lesson from 1994, and here you are, confused and bewildered.

Trying to find someone to blame. Obama is thrashing around trying to find someone to blame.

Not their policies, nooooooooooo, it isn't that the nation doesn't WANT the government reaching into their lives...nooooooooo, it.. it CAN'T be THAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaat...nooo ooooo...it's GOTTA be someone ELSE'S fault because everyone LOVES me and my ideas...

Pfffffffffff....welcome to the fall of the mega ego and his faux greek columns and stupid teleprompter bullsh*t.

Rhetoric meets reality.

This nation doesn't want what you're selling. Never has.

Go ahead, say "I won" again. A pyric victory for you Obama when your party is in ashes after 2010.

The GOP is being inundated in some areas with CANDIDATES coming to THEM to run against democrats.

Yyyyyyyyyyyyep. The evil nasty ugly dinasaur republicans are having REGULAR people who want help to run against the democrats.

But keep denigrating the protestors, obviously the tea parties were NOT an anomoly, and were the "ominous sign" you were warned about.

But keep making fun of people and denigrating the voters that put you guys in office..

THAT'S always a winning strategy you idiots...

Perhaps we should have a limited, three-pronged refrom plan that covers only: 1) catastrophic injuries (because of their potentially devastating costs but relative unlikelihood); 2) infectious diseases (because they can potentially affect large groups of people); 3) and preventative care (because it is usually cheap but can produce great long-term results).

Anything more expensive and extreme than this might be too much too soon.

Ahhh, that 1 million to each of the 27 million would be 27 trillion dollars. Might still be a bargain, but it it $27 trillion.

I did.
If you have your health insurance through work, bravo!
I purchase my own through Blue Cross MN.
I have looked and applied to purchase at Health Partners and Fairview. I was rejected. Why?
Because I have a pre-exisisting condition.
The result is I HAVE NO CHOICE. Neither will take me. I am stuck with Blue Cross. They can charge whatever they want and do.
I have seen my premium increase $80/month since Dec. I am in better health now than 3 years ago.

Also, you may have insurance, but it doesn't mean that you are covered. They can reject treatment that you and your doctor have agreed upon.

Death panel? You bet.

Best for who? The USA is 33rd in the world right above Croatia for the infant mortality rate.

42 MILLION people have no insurance. Commie?

The USA is the ONLY industrialized nation that has not provided health care.

Amazing that all of Europe got it wrong.
Hell, even Costa Rica has it.

Since when are there guarantees in life?
We have all had our difficulties, no one said life is fair or perfect.
You have to adjust as you go.
I love 'nobody should go bankrupt from health care bills'. Yes that is what bankruptcy is for. Relief when things go wrong. The problem is it has been misused by people who have had to declare because of their own stupidity.

Growing up I remember other family members moving in when times got tough. The old 'take care of your own' deal.

That is the real America, not this whining help me attitude.

Correct, I stand corrected on that. It wasn't 1 million, it was supposed to be 100,000. Lost the decimal position on the calc.

You are correct, I stand corrected.

Should have said 100,0000 and not short handed it.

Ummm... beggin' yer pardon... assuming that your figure (27 million uninsured) is correct, a budget allotment of $27 million would give them $1 apiece. To give them each a million dollars would require a price tag of $27 trillion.

Here's the larger issue that's fueling a lot of the town-hall anger-- Americans are a generous people, but you do not have the right to DEMAND that someone else take care of you. You do not have the right to confiscate money that they have earned, so that you can have a better life. If they CHOOSE to share their abundance with you, then, fine. But it doesn't "belong" to you. The American people who work hard and pay their taxes are wising up that this bunch of politicians is intent on imposing their vision, whether the people want it or not.("Suck it up, rich folks..." as the title to another Topix thread puts it). The hard-working American people are beginning to say "Uh, no thanks." Maybe they're beginning to say "**** No, We Won't Go!" They are growing increasingly weary of shouldering the burden for those who will not even provide for themselves, let alone provide for others.

I think the anger is just beginning to rise.

I pay $789 a month for health insurance for me, my daughter and my injured wife (not technely disabled). I can't get it from work, i can't get mn care either. We have a 10,000 deducatable $10-$50 co-pays. We spend over $1000 a month on health care. We don't get to choose our doctors because our health insurance plan says we can ONLY go to this doctor to se THIS and thats how ALL of the plans we can get offer. The rest denny us, refuse service to us. Tell me that isn't wrong you stupid freaking hypicrits. How much money do we spend murdering people oversees and killing our brave soliders. 100's of BILLIONS of dollars TRILLIONS. BUSH DIDN'T EVEN PUT THE COST OF THE WAR HIS ENTIRE TIME HE WAS IN OFFICE SO DON'T FREAKING TELL ME THAT THIS COST TO MUCH! And have you read the health form bill? probbaly not because most of the anti-reform people are brainless spineless dumb-nuts who listen to talk radio and belive everything they here. Hell people like you are threating to kill the president. People like you deserve to be put in jail. You belive everything you see, hear and read. I know I don't LOVE the health care reform bill. But I know i like it a hell of alot better then what we have now.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Taurus

Keep calm! Your emotions are becoming increasingly heightened and intense today. As a result, you're likely to take things much more seriously than usual. That's wonderful if you're involved in a hot and heavy encounter with Mr or Ms Right, but it won't be such good news if you go overboard about silly trifles. If you're doing some last-minute shopping you'll want to be as extravagant as your budget allows. Or is it a case of Budget...? What budget?
