I have been researching Environmental Protection Laws and read with interest and wonder about how Massey defiantly broke the laws and were fined a sum of money for doing so. I believe, if I remember correctly, that Massey also stated that they would clean up and restore a designated area along a river for civilian and tourist use.

The Stream Buffer Zone rule has been in affect since 1983. Why has Massey consistently been allowed to break this law? Doesn't the Environmental agency monitor corporations?

Why does Massey get off with a monetary punishment? It is a criminal offense so why isn't someone or someones doing prison time? Are corporations above the law?

Massey has been dumping waste and mining beyond the 100 foot rule for many years. I should think that this would qualify those who broke the law to pay for it like any common criminal who repeatedly and defiantly breaks the law.

Perhaps I am just ignorant or naive? Or perhaps that is what certain corporations are hoping for. That we are ignorant and or naive. Seems to me that our government and our judicial system and Massey are patting each others backs and padding each other's pockets.

well, Mr. Don Blankenship "Bought" one judge in office, and was "Friends" with Spike. So, i'd say yes .. Massey Coal anyway is above the law in WV.

Don't think Spike Maynard didn't get anything for his vote in favor of Massey. he got a pocket full of money. As did the Judge Don bought in.

Yes, to Don Blankenship "Thinking" WV. is for sale. Well, to him it is. He seems to be the man.

His time will come though.
