Local Establishments Sell Tobacco Products to Youth
“All of the merchants visited today were sent informational packets explaining the law and given instructions on how to properly seek age identification and to identify under-age customers.”
On January 9th, the Harford County Health Department's Tobacco Enforcement Manager along with an officer from the Harford County Sheriff's Department and a 16 year-old volunteer, conducted unannounced tobacco ... via Harford County Government

How many of these people looked like they were over 18? Personally, when I was working at Walmart, I would never ask for identification if they were to put me on the registers. Why? Because anyone with a little bit of stubble appears over 18 to me!
Really, they should have someone much younger than 18 (not two years younger!) as the volunteer.... better someone 13-14 years old. Or, better yet..... simply stop trying to enforce these laws! I swear, they have tried this "18 is okay, but 16 is too young!" with the statutory rape laws, and we ALL know how many people actually adhere to them....... NONE! |
