Everyone makes mistakes, and no one is perfect. It's important to realize this article is about his death and not the story of his life. There is no article, newspaper, or journalist in the world who could adequately capture what a kind, loving, and funny man Casey was. Case was one of the best men I knew and one of my dearest friends for many years, and I know that his memory will be kept alive in our hearts; in all the memories of the good times, the laughs, and the adventures. I will always remember that smile, that laugh, those eyes. To the Briggs family, and all of his other loved ones and friends, thoughts and prayers go out to you. I will never forget you Casey, what you've done for me and how you've impacted my life. You will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. Love you, and until we meet again someday...

Damn you for judging him. He was a hero in many people's eyes and you have no right to condemn him. PTSD is a viable disorder and can cause havoc in a person's life. This soldier felt that his life was over, and even though he should have realized that there were still people who loved him, I can empathize.
I highly doubt the father was lying. He knew what a great person his son was, and that his son would do anything for anyone. This was reflected in the comments that he gave the reporter.
How can you judge a person by one bad deed that ended his life, and not by the many great deeds that he did while he was living? Thats how this soldier should be viewed. As a man who, though he made one bad judgement, lived to serve other people. And even though he's gone now, he will still be loved by the many people he was proud to call friends.

Haters like you are whats wrong with America. Lets have you spend a year in Iraq and then we'll see how screwed up you are. Why don't you spend your time blogging about pediphiles and rapists and leave America's heros alone!

First, it's spelled "Pedophile". And spending a year in Iraq doesn't turn you into a kid toucher. So how about you spend your time in 3rd grade and learn to spell, you immoral retard. I'm glad he's dead, and I know it's hot where he's at right now. Hopefully he's getting sodomized just like he did those kids.

I served with Casey in Kansas and then Iraq. Long live his memory and damn a war that can cause a guy like him to commit something horrible. He was a soft-spoken, relaxed, and charming individual.

Damn a war that can destroy a mind like his.

For all of you that judge Casey that didn't know him, I wish pain upon you for your ignorance.
And "Idiots Galore" where the fck do you see that he touched any kids? fukkin idiot.
The only people that can talk bad about him are his family or the ones who shed blood sweat and tears with him in that hell hole.
The rest of you spoiled bratty cowards can go F yourselves.

I went to HS with Casey Briggs. A very good friend.

Along with many other fellow students from HS, I never saw or heard anything of him since graduation in '04.

Visited home (East Aurora) recently, and heard the news.

Frustrated to know another American Soldier has died, back on US soil, after proudly serving his time.

Sad to know another fellow classmate from 2004 HS has left us.

War is a horrifying and unmerciful thing, that I can only attempt to imagine, and fail miserably to ever understand. I am grateful for this.

I have people like Casey Briggs to thank for that.

I had a friend named Casey Briggs to thank for that.

Thank you Casey. Rest in peace buddy.

if your understandings of the world around us lead you to react like this to such a tragic occurrence then we are all feeling very sorry for you right now... Casey was a good man. No one can understand what he went through his last days but him. It is for no one to judge the quality of his life because of the way that he left his world. Those of us who knew him when he was alive know now just how amazing of a person he truly is.

First off shame on you as a newspaper and as a human being for writing such an article. People like Casey gave you the freedom to speak such things and print such trash. Where is respect for the family at their time of loss? Have you no heart? I know the Brigg's family pretty well and not one action that Casey took was of his regular character. Except this, death before dishonor. He loved his parents and adored his sister and if half of the men on this earth would strive for half of the kindness and respect shown to the people around them that Casey did the world would be a better place? A lie, no there was no lie into the cause of death and I am sure there are many tangled stories that occur in Franklin Co. but not one's that would sell quite so many newspapers huh? Know ALL of the facts before you go casting stones from your own glass house. Just ask yourself this, have you no faults? If the answer is yes then do what you must but if when you look in the mirror tonight you question your own journalism than I suggest fix it. We love you Tom, Jen, and Abby don't you ever forget that.

hi is this kelly? its morgan! i reach out to you to. im on here cuz im very upset and then all these harsh comments popped up when looking at pictures of casey. im sorry for you and i reach out.
