You will not see one in Puerto Rico any time soon. You will soon see Wegmans closing stores. In this economy Wegmans will get killed. It will be price, price, price. Wegmans has too high of an overhead to compete with much of the competition. Price Rite will open soon in Henrietta. More market share gone. Little by little Wegmans is being eaten away in the Rochester market. Had they not been so greedy and arrogant, they would still have a large market share in Rochester. Now the competition has taken about 50% of the business from them. One you loose a customer it is hard to get them back.

Actually, FYI Wegmans is doing better then those other faceless grocery stores in the area, I love Wegmans and you can TRUST them with Price Rite and all of those other crappy supermarkets, you cannot trust their quality, sure their prices are cheap, cheap, cheap, but you get crap, crap, crap, you get qhat you pay for... which is CRAP! Just because you were fired from Wegmans (It can be assumed by you pointless rant) doesn't mean they are not still #1! They will always be #1! You can have your cheap crappy food and I keep shopping at Wegmans!

I think its great that they are opening new stores, but I wish they would remodel some here in the Rochester area, like Holt Road. Its too small for the volume that they do.

If anyone thinks that Wegman's will not be hurt by the economy they are fools. The Wegman's family are crooks. We have been ripped off for years in Rochester. Price Rite, WalMart and Aldi's are #1 in saving me money. Not Wegmans. They never will be #1. Luncifer the only thing you can trust at Wegman's is paying too much for everything. That's a fact.

I do most of my shopping at WalMart and Sam's. There are no bargains at Wegmans. When you have a large family every penny counts. I stopped shopping at Wegmans 10 years ago. Only go in once every few weeks to shop there. They also stopped selling many items that I can still get at other stores.

personally , I am not a fan of the new Wegmans in Henrietta. I have left that store with my purchases more times than not, drive by the little one up the street, and miss it's personal atmosphere. It was a wonderful neighborhood store. Wegmans may want to concentrate on that rather than how big they can build the next store.

Bigger is better. The Wegmans philosophy. Just like the GM Hummer. Bigger is better. We see where the Hummer Philosophy got GM. We see where the small car Philosophy got Honda and Toyota. At least at Aldi's, the workers know who you are. There are only about 10 workers in each store. And you can get in and out quick. I work all day and do not have time to spend a hour in a Wegmans to get milk and eggs.

I only shop ay Wegman's for the weekly "teaser" items if I need them. I started noticing years ago that the national brands were dwindling and the Wegman's brand was increasing in the stores. I certainly don't mind using store brands, but I do mind having them shoved down my throat. I like the option of chosing between store brand or national brand. Someone earlier suggested that the quality of the groceries at Wegman's was superior to any of the other options available here in the Rochester area, I really beg to differ, I can't tell you how many times I have purchased produce from Wegman's only for it to be spoiled within 24 - 36 hours. I no longer buy much of anything at Wegman's unless I am getting a great deal on it.

I went into Tops for a few things because it was close and I couldn't believe how much higher their prices were than Wegmans. I actually refused to buy a few things because of the price. Wegmans is very competitive in pricing and they have great quality. Aldi's, Price Rite, etc.. doesn't carry quality. You get what you pay for!

I will continue to shop at my lovely new Henrietta wegmans. I have never had a problem with produce or any other item, and they certainly have a far larger selection of "all natural" items than any of their competitors. My mother-in-law in Vermont constantly asks me when Wegmans is going to expand into Vermont. I don't blame her after seeing the grocery stores there.

Thank you Wegmans Employees for your opinion. Aldi's, Price Rite and WalMart must be doing something correct. They are always full and keep growing in Rochester. Tyhe Home base of Wegmans. That means less money for Wegmans every day. Lets see, Frindley's Ice cream ( name brand )$1.99 a full 1/2gallon at Price Rite. Wegman's brand of Ice Cream ( a shrunk container not 1/2 gallon)$2.59. What value is this????????Wegmans sucks. You get screwed at Wegman's every time.

The new prices at Wegman's are a loss leader to get you in the store. I have a feeling Wegman's is not making the money they use to in the Rochester market. The public is very price sensitive in this area of New York State. It may be why they are expanding elsewhere. Yes, everyone needs food and must shop, but as times get bad the profit margins will go down a great deal.

The economy in Rochester along with the NY taxes will slowly push most of the new store opening to those more southern states. They call it the "southward progression". We will always have Wegmans in Rochester but many stores are closely monitored. If they consistently fall short on profits they are red flagged and become targets to become closed. We already have seen this with the Driving Park location and the Gates Chili Ave locations more recently. If a Wegmans store in one town is missing it's goals Wegmans will not open a new store they next town over until goals at the current nearby store are met. Wegmans recently have tried to become more competitive and will have to do even more in the future as people are all feeling the effects of the economy in one way or another. They will have to live less off their name. They will also have to continue to offer the high quality meats and specialty items. They must do this while continuing to find ways to cut costs and pass that on to the consumer to mitigate the loss of customers to lower priced stores.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Cancer

If you have children at home they'll be really playful today and quite a handful at times. Encourage them to burn off all their energy during the day otherwise it will be a case of tears before bedtime. There could also be a fractious atmosphere between you and a loved one, and this will quickly escalate into a row if you aren't careful.
