This story would have ended differently if I was involved. There would have been 2 dead dogs and a pit bill owner in the hospital then transferring to long term rehab.

I'm sorry to hear that a pitbull killed your little Maltese, on
Thursday July 7th, 2011 my daughter brought her Maltese so I can baby sit, at about 9:00 pm we took the dog out for a walk out side in front of my house came a big ugly pitbull and crabbed my little Maltese from the neck and starting throwing him around I grabbed the pitbull and wrestle with it, my little dog got lose and ran to the back yard then the pitbull ran after him and grab him from the stomach and bite him I then grab the pitbull from his mouth and neck pulling him away from my little Maltese but he won't let go I started praying asking in the name of Jesus for that pitbull to let go of my dog and I commented that in the name of Jesus the pitbull let my dog go, My dog ran away couldn't find my dog for 3 hours I thought he was dead but a friend found my dog after three hours of looking we rush our Maltese to the hospital where they patch him and he is better now thank god, this pitbull was wonder around in the area know one knew who the owner was until after two hours of hell, Im going to court next month against the owner I thank God I still have my Maltese, I feel bad for the young lady that lost her dog to the pitbull no one should have a pitbull as a pet. Next time when a pitbull attacks just pray in the name of Jesus the dog will release your pet, the name of Jesus has power.

Wow! Someone needs an education. Liz I have several APBT's in my home and I have done a ton of research on the breed. Pit bulls were bred NOT to like other animals, plain and simple. In this case both the maltese and the pit bull were off leash and off their properties. BOTH owners are to blame. And I say owners b/c the OWNERS are responsible for this mess. Neither dog should have been atlarge and unfortunatly when you have a 60lb dog vs a 15lb dog the larger dog is always going to win.
As for some of the false information you stated about the breed....
1. socialization - you cannot force any dog to like other dogs. You can socialize them, train them, and manage them so that they behave appropriately with others but you cannot make a dog aggressive dog into a dog friendly dog.
2. Dog aggression- Dog aggression and humane aggression are NOT related. Just b/c a dog attacks another dog does not mean that he will then 'turn' on you or kill you children. Believe it or not dog fights happen everyday
3. Locking Jaws- Come on now, so I'm supposed to belive that pit bulls have some special make up in which their jaws lock down when they attack. PLEASE! Have you every seen a jack russell attack another dog? I broken up pit fights, lab fights, jack name it I've seen it. Pit bulls do not have locking jaws, they are simply terriers. Terrier are determined, high energy, working dogs and that's it!
4. "Could anyone tell me why someone feels they need to have a pit-bull as a pet?!??" - I own 3 adult rescued pitbulls and I also work at a pit friendly shelter. Pit bulls are amazing companions. Mine follow me everywhere, curl up with me at night, greet all of my vistors with a wiggle butt, are gentle with children, let my chihuahua sleep on top of them....I could go on and on.
I hope you understand Liz that there are no bad dogs out their, just bad owners. yorkie malt., was just killed by a pit, u r full of it. I love dogs, but have no use for a pit any more. I will not have something n my house that can turn on u n a minute like they do. And by the way, the pit came n my yard and got my dog. I have 4 other dogs, none r pits.(thank goodness) and they have played before but they have never killed!!!!

For the same goddamn reason morons need to have toy/small dogs to carry in a purse. And we ask WHY. I would like NOTHING better than to see the breeding of ALL toy breeds come to an end. They serve NO purpose whatsoever except to fill an emotional void of the clueless idiots who acquire them and in a role reversal, these useless purse accessories become alphas and the owners allow themselves to become the submissive puppies. These small dogs are reprehensible frankendogs.*smirks*

Pit Bulls have been around since the turn of the century and in all those vintage photographs of them posing with their families, they became known as nanny dogs. Moreover, they fought in WWI and WWII. Fast forward to the last ten years. These dogs have been acquired by the ghetto and gang banger element, exploited, abused, maimed, tortured and killed, in addition to being used for nefarious purposes and illicit material gain. Thank the ghetto element for ruining this breed of dog which has resulted in thousands of Pit Bulls being killed because of BSL. Everything those bastards touch turns to shit in plain English.

Once again, another mauling, rather killing by a pit-bull. The woman who owned this dog, as she stated when she was interviewed...."didn't have this dog very long, but it never showed any aggression". Please, when are people going to get educated & stop thinking they can try to socialize a pit-bull!! Maybe if she had this dog as a puppy, there is a chance for socialization, but not when it is an older pit-bull and not knowing its background. This is a sore topic for me. I have met numerous people who have adopted pit-bulls from the humane society and "try" to make attempts to socialize the animal....when they cannot, I have been chased by pit-bulls and pit-bulls have lunged and tried to attack my dogs. Each time the owner would say, "well, I just adopted this dog & he hasn't shown any aggression towards me"...well then walk the dog in your back yard...quit bringing these uncontrollable dogs out in the public!! These dogs have jaws that LOCK on their victim and they cannot be released unless they are shot. I feel so bad for the owners of the maltese, their dog didn't deserve this. Could anyone tell me why someone feels they need to have a pit-bull as a pet?!?? For protection against what??
