There is a reason CPS exists. Because shit happens to children. It is better they exist than don't exist. Everyone knows if you complain about CPS, it is because you or someone you know is under suspicion of having done something to your child, so don't put yourself out there like that. You are embarrassing yourself. CPS only acts when someone in the community reports. And there has to be overwhelming evidence for them to legally take your kids. I know because I was going to work for them. I decided not because it is just so depressing the shit that happens to kids. Abuse is not just hitting, it is a lot of things people don't realize.

While i agree they exist for a reason because there is a need, i have seen where the"overwhelming evidence" is just heresay. Hasn't been on just one occasion either. Sometimes i fear that you tick off the wrong person and no matter how great of a parent i am i will find myself guilty until proven innocent of the false allegations. There is a great need for these services but sometimes it amazes me the bully tactics used. I always say don't sign anything without an attorney present regardless of what they threaten you with. Sorry its just my opinion.

I agree. If it weren't for Cps I would be still stuck with my mom and her husband. I now live in a better place with no bullish*t and I'm glad. I have met kids that have been through so much it's ridiculous and because of Cps they are safe. Starting a group against Cps is going against protecting children.

I don't think you have room to talk about being educated, I hold a degree in Criminal Justice and had to take a whole course on Child Psychology and Abuse. You really are blind when you think ANYONE can handle a job like that. I to was interested in being in the CPS field, the course covered everything from child abuse, molestation, torture, sex trafficking, aggravated sexual assault, rape, neglect,

and murder with ACTUAL pictures and videos to learn from and investigate for our own projects. Unless you are mentally and emotionally stable to be able to go to the abusers house and find that the child was just raped, lying there with their clothes ripped, or just beat half to death barely holding on, or JUST MURDERED then RAPED right after then by all means BADASS study to be CPS investigator. If not then I suggest you keep your mouth closed and comments to yourself. I bet you couldn't handle 5 min of the work load required. It's long hours, days don't end, and weekends of time taken away from just your own family and kids just to complete one case. Plus depending on what location, a CPS investigator has to make a quota of at least 50-60 cases per month in completion to turn in and ready for court. So tell me again...if being a CPS investigator is so cool and money is great, why are they constantly short handed and always need CPS investigators? Because you have to be able to hold your own emotion and hold back your own tears when you have to take away a child who was just abused. God your dumb....

I use to work for CPS, and just FYI cps recommends to JUDGES a case for removal, based on FACTS obtained through interviews, pictures, etc...if the judge decides based on EVIDENCE children need to be removed for their SAFETY he/she grants the removal or grants the STATE custody...do your homework and get the facts straight...you really think they do it just because? Workers are human and have hearts, they're there to be a voice for these children whose parents can't or don't want to protect them or provide the loving, nurturing home they need and deserve!!!

Yes Alicia, I did turn down the CPS job, and I am educated. That is the good thing about having a college degree, you get to have a lot of great options. I chose another job and I am happy. Just like "Former CPS" said, you do need to know the facts. I did go through some of the training and realized it was not for me. It is not for everyone. But I was able to learn that CPS has to follow laws and policies put in place by the State of Texas. CPS can not just kidnap kids. And when people tell you CPS took their kids, there had to be a reason, and they are not telling you everything about their case, for example, that they were drug positive, or that their kids had physical evidence of abuse, etc, etc.
I hope you have learned something from my comment, along with the comment of "former CPS" and the individual who commented that he or she is now in a better place because of CPS.
It would be great if all children were loved and nurtured by both their parents, so that CPS would not have to exist.

Another lesson for Alicia and everyone else that has CPS all wrong.

CPS issues are CIVIL law, not CRIMINAL.
Criminal cases require "beyond a reasonable doubt." That means there has to be overwhelming evidence.(ex: fingerprints, confessions)

Civil law, like a CPS issues under the Family Code,(that means the law)require "preponderance". That means "50% sure plus one grain of rice" 100% sure something happened is not required of CPS according to the law. Are you with me so far??

So CPS actions follow the law of preponderance, not beyond a reasonable doubt.

For example: Kid has bruises. Pictures, interviews, etc. indicate mom caused the bruises. CPS did not see mom cause the bruises so they do not have beyond a reasonable doubt, but they do have preponderance. CPS realizes mom likely did it based on what they have so far. The age of the kid, the vulnerability of the kid, previous CPS and Criminal history of mom and other people who care for the kid are taken into consideration when a judge allows CPS to take the kids.

I hope this helps change your thinking.

Victoria, just don't say anything because you really sound stupid. As a matter of fact, don't write anything because you clearly can't write with your run on sentence. Learn to capitalize, punctuate, and use appropriate vocabulary. Scapegoat, should not be used for what you are trying to say. Go back to school, and learn how to treat your kids because YOU obviously did something wrong and got your children involved with CPS. P.S Victoria is a beautiful name... capitalize it!

I agree with dumb much to some extent, but honestly it depends who the cps worker is. Sometimes working all those cases, day in & out & seeing all that turns them hard to where they always see it wrong & go after the wrong people for the wrong reasons. Cps is necessary but there really needs to be better rules & regulations on how to handle cases. These quotas is what hurts the families that didn't need interference. Its wrong to remove a child from a home because of spanking practices (not abuse) & put them in a group home or foster care where they're exposed to molestation & other crap that wasn't even going on at his home. Its so hard to get your kids back & the rare case when you do, the damage has already been done. Yes, its just on story but there's thousands of them if you do the research. It depends on the worker & the parents need to have an attorney throughout the whole process, don't sign anything withoug one & don't let anybody take your kids without the warrent by a judge no matter what they say. You are allowed to video tape or tape record when approached by a cps worker as long as you have it said on tape that you are recording.

CPS is already a tough job due to the nature of the job and time constraints, why would you to make it harder by putting them in a position that violates the rights as well by recording them. CPS workers are humans too, would you like to be recorded? If you dont like being investigated by CPS then do not do anything that will need their involvement. Yes some people are vindictive and call CPS on a family for no reason but if you have nothing going on in your home your case will closed with in a short time frame. CPS doenst not remove childern for "spanking practices", that is just absurd if you believe that. If CPS removes children for someone spanking their child its because their child is black and blue and theres a pattern of it! If you do not like how CPS workers do their job, get an education and be one.

B/c I've done my research, due to several people having to deal with them. Its legal to & its called protecting your child & your self. If you read my post than you would see I said some not all cps workers. The fact of the matter is you don't know who you're dealing with so its better to have all your bases covered legally. Did you know that cps cannot legally remove a child without a judge approval but many lie & say that the police gives them the authority to do so but when you go to the follow up court date, they state that the parent voluntarily let them take the child. It happens constantly. A lot of them give false court dates so the parent is a no show. This is just one example, & again I state not all cps workers are this way. Rights are not being violated if the law saw I have the right to do so.

I thought cps was a joke also when they went in my sisters home and told her my nephew was getting molested. They investigated her home talked to all her kids and even made her take them to corpus to do more investigation. They did put my sister thru a lot but from the beginning they never just went in to remove the kids. All In all the accusations were not true. And they closed the case. My sister still thanked them for being concerned for her kids. She told them if something was happening to her kids that she did not know of , it was well worth everything they put her thru to find out. My sister loves her kids and has always taken care of them. But nobody know if someone else is hurting these's kids that the parents don't know about. So I give a thumbs up to cps for the hard work they do. You may think they r rude and take offense when a case is open on you but be thankful that they r there to protect your children! I think if i would have gone a call that this child is being molested I would just go into the home a remove them. So like the other person commented they inspect the home and if they see evidence that they need to remove the children they do so. So don't talk bad about them they have a very hard job. And I can't even imagine what they have seen. They r human with good hearts and have intentions TO HELP CHILDREN!!!! And if they would have removed my sisters kids till there investigation was done. I think I would be thankful to them anyway just because if someone was hurting them the kids wouldn't have to wait to get help. I just think some of ya need to grow up and take care if ur kids. And if u are cps shows up don't get mad be glad someone else is concerned about ur children.

I called cps on a child who lived down the street I would always here him get yelled at. And I don't mean just yelling cause I know my kids can get under my nails and I yell. I mean he could curse very ugly words to him and I would see him wearing the same clothes for almost 3 days in a row. So I though I would call cps just they can check it out. I would just feel so bad for this kid when I would see him and he would pass by my house and just smile at me. I knew it was just a fake smile I mean who can smile after being treated like that. Well anyways I was surprised how fast cps was at the home. And they did remove him immediately!!! And I saw when they were taking him and he was crying and I could not stop crying cause I blamed myself that I cause this kid to cry. I would tell my husband I shouldn't have called and minded my own business. Who knows where they r taking him and he's probably scared. And when I called cps back to find out how he was doing there was so much more going on in that home. Abuse, drugs they would feed him. They said they asked him when did u eat are you hungry? And he responded "he ate cereal yesterday"! Yea he is in a foster home but he gets breakfast, lunch & dinner. And attention don't get abused or cursed at. And has clean clothes everyday. And they did let me talk to him and I told him I was the lady who would smile at him when he passed by my home. And he said he remembered me and I asked him how he was doing and he went on and on about how much things they do. These foster homes do a lot with the kids he said they were going camping. He sounded like a normal happy kid. So after all that guilt I had for calling I know I did the right thing. And like I said in the comment before were I thought cps was a joke when they opened a case on my sister. They deserve way more credit than people give them. Because if it wasn't for them this kid would have never had a good childhood. So to everyone if u suspect something anything that u know as an adult that something might be going on with a child. PLEASE! PLEASE! Report it. You could be that child's cry for help. I just thought I would give my encountering with cps so you won't think they just take kids away. Cause like I said before they never removed my sisters kids!! But they did remove this kid fast. So I can't thank you enough cps for caring for these kids and also taking the time to talk to me and letting me know how he is doing. And I'm apologize for all those ignorant people on here that are bashing ya!

CPS is not something to go againest and yes I agree if u piss the wrong person off they can make false accusations and Cps will investigate but if they hve no reason to believe the accusations they have no reason to take ur kids if they prove u are unfit u can't be mad/upset when they do what's in the best interest of the child
