I have heard that the new liquor store in Dunlap will be opening soon. I wish them the best of luck in their new business venture.

im gonna be positive here and say im glad i wont have to drive to marion or hamilton county to buy liquor or wine. im glad those tax revenue will stay in my county. unlike some people on here i believe one can enjoy a drink without being a raging alcoholic as some people on here generalize everyone who drinks is in that category. i enjoy a glass of wine with a good meal. i also enjoy having a party and having friends over for drinks. the key is being responsible about it. the people who are gonna drink will do it anyway. It just means they have to travel less distance to get whatever beverage they choose to enjoy. and it's not going to put out the bootleggers last time i checked you could not purchase moonshine at a liquor store. honestly people the referendum has passed get over it and do the world a favor get off of ur cross. sum1 else could use the wood.

I have lived here 3 years now, never heard of a dry county before moving here. Thought I had moved back in time. In some ways that's just fine with me, but I prefer people take personal responsibility so that others who do can have the choice of having a drink now and then.

I am sorry that families have to endure family members with alcohol problems, but by that logic, we should also take cars off the road because some folks can't drive responsibly.

Now if the liquor store had only come when I could have afforded to by liquor.. Grin! It's not a priority in this economy.

By the way I love Dunlap, one of the most beautiful towns I have ever lived in, I also love the people here.

Considering the economic times, the tax revenue (8% for every $1 sold) produced from the liquor store will improve the City of Dunlap. These improvements will be enjoyed by those who drink and those who don't. For example: roads, public facilities, schools, & future public endeavours.

The largest health problem that the U.S. and Dunlap face is obesity and it's related illnesses, not alcoholism. So please remember, over indulging in anything can be a problem. The key is doing things (i.e. exercising, eating, drinking) in moderation.

One of the owners of the new store is a successful business man in Chattanooga, father of 4, and former UT football player. Sounds to me like he'll bring a much needed presence to the community.

The DUI damage is just as great to other families. People are drinking now. Who cares if it is beer or scotch whiskey ?

The liquor store will cause hardship just as the lottery. There will always people who make bad choices and can not drink or gamble within their means.(just a couple things)

People have to chose for themselves. drive across the mountain, down the valley or to the local bootlegger.

If you drive across the mountain just to get booze you are probably an alcaholic.

If you need twelve beers to sleep you are probably an alcoholic.

If you need a drink to get to work on time .....
I may be the first one in line.

Personal responsibility is often overlooked.

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Virgo

Enjoy today's lively atmosphere. It's great for throwing yourself into social settings and mixing with as many people as possible. You'll feel no hint of shyness or nerves, even if you're facing a room full of strangers. If things have been tricky with a near neighbor or close relative recently, this is a good day to sort things out even if you have to be quite tough in the process.
