MSES denies parents access to children, teachers, and classrooms!

Once again MSES has found a way to keep parents even further out of their school! It seems that the tragic events in Connecticut have given the staff of MSES an excuse to do what they have been trying all year... Keeping the parents out of the school. Previously, parents were allowed to take their children to class in the morning before first bell.(Any and ALL access after 7:35 am was denied) This also gave parents an opportunity to view displayed work as well as talk to the teachers about any issues. Now, parents are not allowed beyond the main hall; with staff members GUARDING the hall way entrances. I ask... WHAT is going on that is SO BAD that parents can not be in the school? WHAT are they trying to HIDE? I am sure that the Muhlenberg County School Board is going to have some busy phone lines today! Not only are the parents upset, but the kids (who actually want their parents to be a part of their school life) are hurt as well.
Kudos to the county for their attempt to make people feel safer. An officer posted at the front door. But really? What good is that? We all walk in with our big coats and baggy clothes. He would be none the wiser if someone walked in with weapons. Sorry that you have to stand there and waste your time, Mr. Officer. We know its cold and your time could be better spent elsewhere. These schools are getting ridiculous!
Will be starting a petition to present to the school board to allow parents access to their children, teachers and classrooms at MSES!

At least they are trying. Other parents may have been upset, feeling their children are not being safe guarded. I doubt everyone feels the same as you. When you home school you know what is going on in the classroom.

I'm sure that ALL parents are not upset. Especially the ones that never step foot in the school anyway. But PLENTY are. And the kids too. But no, I am NOT even going into the home school vs. public school debate.

Your right if you home school you kow what is happeneing. I have a special needs son and he goes to MSES. I dont like the way he is treated and were are planning to home school him next year. The school always claims it has a 100 percent no bullying policy in place. It is a no bullying policy when it comes to the one being bullied. My son has been taunted and made fun of ever since he started school there. Kids made fun of his speech problems and that cause other issues with him. When he stood up for himself against these bullys he got in trouble while the bullies got off. I have other kids that saw this happening and spoke up for him but the teachers didnt listen to them.Schools are a joke now days in the education children get. The schools system doesnt teach to educate it teaches to gain money.Just like all government programs and agencies money is what makes the go around.
