The decor is certainly well done. The food I've had so far isn't too bad. However, the service could certainly use a shot in the arm. I understand the whole "opening/growing pains" retort, but to me it seems as if the majority of the staff has little to no previous restaurant experience. And there was an awful lot of standing around (from management on down) on the very busy Friday night I was there.

One more thing, Who's ever heard of food ordering being "put on hold"? While sitting at the bar on the aforementioned Friday evening, we were told (after luckily getting the attention of the hair-twirling bartender) that we could not order food for the next five minutes because the kitchen had put them on a five-minute hold. Tell me that the kitchen is swamped and things will take a little longer, but don't tell me I cannot order! We promptly paid and left.

Having said all that, I do hope that Fireside works. Having locally owned establishments like this is not only good for the city, but good for the southside in particular. Good luck in working out the kinks!

Fireside is the nicest place to hit greenwood in a long time. Finally a bar thats classy enough to not have 50cent beer and people wearing jerseys and sweat pants. My service was great when I was there even though I arrived 20 minutes before they stopped serving the staff was still polite and prompt. I do not want to be overwhelmed when I eat dinner with people wiping bread crumbs off my table while im in the middle of a conversation. I like the relaxed feel of the place.

My husband and I ate at the Fireside for our anniversary. We wanted to try something different. The food was good, but later we were talking and for the price of the meals, we should have at least been served rolls before the meal. It is a place you leave feeling like there should have been more to it. We will not soon dine there again.
