What is a gang?

The police's definition of a gang is: a group of individuals, juvenile and or adult, who associate on a continuous basis, form an allegiance for a common purpose, and are involved in delinquent or criminal activity. This definition is simple and functional. It allows the police departments to take proactive law enforcement action normally before the gang gets an organized structure. The gang may range from a loose knit group of individuals who hang around together and commit crimes together, to a formal organization with a leader or ruling council, gang colors, gang identifiers, and a gang name.

I agree...it's either the daycare's fault for spanking the kids or it's those little holligans from meadow lane. Or Terry Bass. Take your pick and that is who to blame for the gangs in P'Gould.

well lets see...most of the "gangs" are just a bunch of thuglets trying to act tough, dealing drugs, and freaking geetered out all the time. i know a bunch of people that act like they are a gang and i tell them they are stupid. we live in paragould not memphis, atlanta, la or chicago where the hardcore activity goes on. we mainly just have vandals, drug dealers, robbers, and your every once in a while jumping.

I'd say the latin kings are the most deadly gang that I have ran across in pgould. They are really bad on Spring Grove Road. Rino, Rellik, jushon thunder ligar, and Umaga are a few that I know of. If you here these names come out of any of your kids mouths then you need to seek help.

My beagle wears a bandana.....does that mean he is in a gang??? He also eats cat crap from the litter box....does that mean he is in a gang??? I read in the Jonesboro sun that one of the signs of being in a gang was wearing bandanas of a certain color that signify what gang you were in. There was no mention of eating cat crap in the story though...this warrants further investigation.

listen gangs are everywhere the biggest gang in paragould is the police. im not saying all are bad we have good police officers and some bad. just like anywhere. alot of the officers here harass the people of paragould like you wouldnt believe. it seems that most of them have a chip on there shoulders.and im sure if i had to listen and deal with alot of the things that go on here on a daily basis i might be a little frustrated also. still does not give them the right.

i think that paragould does not offer the youths alot of things to do. we need programs to help and to get these kids doing something positive. i think that alot of parents just dont care anymore.there is too much time out and not enough putting your foot down and whooping your butt. im not saying to beat your child by any means. but my parents tore my butt up when i did something wrong there was no such thing as timeout. i didnt turn out bad. so what im getting at is that if you have parents that dont care and you have nothing to do then yes more times than not your going to something stupid like join a gang to feel the care from your so called freinds. i think that the gangs here are a joke. its just alot of kids that try to be bad do stupid stuff and have someone to have your back because your to scared to stand up for yourself.

troy, i completely agree with you. these kids don't have much of anything to do so they turn to doing stupid shit. as for the police thing i have family on the police force and they are just trying to do their job and get some scum of the streets. but i do see what you are saying. some of the cops can be complete dicks but we do have some good cops at the same time. and they do have to deal with a lot of stupid shit on a daily basis. even with me having family on the force i have been harrased by some. of course i was pretty rebelious too. i wish there was something for these youth of paragould to do besides walk around trying to "act" like they are in a gang or whatever.
