I don't think sears was ever in the old mall, didn't castner Knott have a restaurant in the store?

The ones I remember were Castner Knotts, a pet store, Martin Theatre, TG&Y, Behr's, Brooks, a barber shop, Prissy Hens, Woolco, Golden Farley. That's all I can remember. I know there were a few more.

JCPenney and Sears were never in the old mall. Castner Knott was at one end and Woolco was at the other. Inside the more major stores were TG&Y, Pushins, Zales, Lee's bookstore, and SuperX and a grocery store to the right of the middle entrance (can't remember who). There were about 25 or so smaller stores inside the mall along with a restaurant that also had a counter. The was also a movie theatre inside. And Castern-Knott and Woolco both had restaruants.

I think Penny's was downtown on the square and Sear's was close to there.

The old mall had a SuperX in the front left. JCPenney's was downtown and Sears was on State Street up from the square, where the local State Assistance office is now, across from the Presbyterian Church. JCPenney's moved to the mall when it opened as an anchor store in 1979 and Sears moved there when the first addition (called the Sears wing) was added in the mid-80's (if my memory serves me correct).

The sears wing was built around 1986 at greenwood mall. I was born in the mid 70s, did the old mall immediately shutdown after greenwood mall was built around 1979?? I remember Kroger was at the old Caster Knott up until sometime in the mid 1990s. Was Big Lots a department store in the 70s?

What I remember most is the fountain in the middle, I would always think of ways to steal quarters without anyone looking and I never did

Malls are getting rid of fountains because of idiots jumping in them or shoving someone in it and filming it for YouTube. The mall in Louisville got rid of there fountain a few years back because of this issue. I always wondered why greenwood mall never had the classic fountain that the old Nashville road mall had back in the day. I barely remember the old mall except the fountain. If anyone has any old photos that worked there since camera phones hadn't been invented, it would be great to make a tribute website to the old mall.
