My preteen has asked permission to go to Skeletons Lair. I have never been, and she is my oldest child, so I'm used to door to door trick or treating. Would you let a 12 year old go to this? My first instinct is to say NO WAY, but thought I'd get opinions. I can filter out the trash on here - if you care to post something meaningful and helpful, I'd appreciate it.

The event it's self is never bad. Just walking through the woods and people jumping out at you sort of deal. It's never been scary to me.The other stuff like the 3D house and zombie paintball are not scary at all and pretty well staffed.

I'm not a parent but the problem that I could see with sending a teenager there alone would be the other kids attending. They generally have security but they can only do so much and there is a lot of standing around waiting. I've never seen kids being anything other than kids there(ex: being loud, obnoxious, etc) but that would be my main concern.

It's also literally out in the middle of nowhere and a pretty far distance from town.

Thanks for the input. She wouldn't be alone, but with a couple of her friends and an adult. But like you said, it's probably the other patrons I should be concerned about. I appreciate the reply.

If you have these concerns why don't you go with her? That way you can see for yourself. How well do you know the adult that is going to be responsible for her? That's where your concern should lie. Go with her and ease your mind.

I have two other smaller kids who I have to take trick or treating the old fashioned way. If it was just her, I might go, but it's just not my thing. If something or someone runs out of the woods to try to attack me, they might not survive.
