Good point. I can't argue with that.

This reminds me far too much of a similar case in BG in either the 80's or 90's. A man was on the roof of te R.L. Kennedy jewelers on Main Street. He purposely set the alarm off to bring the police. He was sober, but unruly, did not follows commands from the police. He NEVER threatened them nor showed any signs of having a weapon. As the stand-off continued it was clear he was depressed and had no intention of breaking in the store or causing any harm whatsoever. He started yelling at the police, even as far as something to the effect of "shoot me, kill me" and would not follow their commands. Well, they shot and killed him, just as he wished. It's called suicide by police.......that's what this case clearly is. For the policeman to have shot and killed and not wounded at that short of a distance should be a crime!

I would like to address this. When my grandmother was alive I was a child. My grandmother was a full blown alcoholic and that is what killed her. The only family Greg had was one brother and one sister. My mother and father bailed him out of jail and picked him up when he got out of mental institutions. And at 18, when he got out of foster care, my parents took care of Greg. I for one have personally along with my mother and my sister had picked Greg up at his apartment and took him to grocery or took him cigarettes or whatever and called and talked to him on the phone. The cellphone Greg had at the time that he died, my mother bought it for him and put it on her contract. My grandmother used to stay with us all the time so we could get her sober for a few days. Greg's family did not live in BG and if you would have seen Greg more recently before his death you would have known that he did have a family that loved and cared for him and pictures of all of the kids in his wallet.<quoted text>
Mt.. Dear family member I'm truly sorry for your lose. I don't believe he should of been shot with a assault rifle however to get on TV and act as if he would never hurt anyone and to put it out there as he was a innocent child like harmless man is just a straight out lie. He on several occasions beat that poor old women black and blue to the point of not being able to recognize her. Did I mention the time he was threating and held her hostage saying he was going to kill and burn her alive? I and everyone on the street had to stay locked in there homes several times because of his drunken rampage. Several times he held a knife to himself.. I'm sure all the police reports can be pulled up to prove it. It was not just the alcoholism it was also the misuse of psychotic medications.. He was not harmless when in this state he was very loud and uncontrollable. If you didn't know him and understand his illnesses and issues you would not know that he was more loud and talk then harm.. You are right about one thing. I do not know how he has been in the past year. I and many others got the hell off that side of town.

Good luck to the family on your lawsuit. If you win we will to. It should not of happened this way. 73 feet of distance is not any immediate threat to anyone especially an officer standing behind a cruiser with a built proof vest. The only reason the cop that was shot by the two other cops family didn't sue was they got a check for 1000000 dollars.

You should really get your FACTS straight. You don't know the first thing about what any family did or didn't get. And learn how to SPELL!!! Nobody knows what a "built" proof vest is!!!

How old are you? Like 13? Even if you are trying to say that the officer was wearing a "BULLET" proof vest, there is no such thing as bullet proof, moron. Body armor is not always effective and in your great wisdom have you ever considered that maybe the cops didn't care to get shot in the face, arms, groin or legs? Only in your sick mind does a cop have to let a potentially armed suspect get close to them simply because they are wearing a vest. Any drunk moron who says he has a gun, says he is going to kill someone, won't show his hands and refuses to stop coming toward an armed officer after being told 50 times to stop and drop what he his hiding, needs to be put down.

People who are supporting Harrison are just trash who see the opportunity to lash out at cops who have given them tickets or put them in jail.

Keith Casada or any officer should not use deadly force unless a weapon was produced, now if Greg Harrison had tackled Casada for the gun, yes Keith Casada would be totally justified, but he murdered a sick man for nothing.
The publics life was not in danger, when you have mentally ill unstable people making threats, you treat it differently than you do other situations. Keith Casada is truly a spineless dispicable coward, my cousin has qualities that Greg sHarrison displayed and my heart just breaks for all involved and Casada the twerp gets a promotion and is a hero? If Casada is a hero, then Osama Bin Laden is my God.
sounds like murder more to this killing I will investigate this case until the truth comes to the light. Cold blooded murder I sense

I saw on WBKO this morning that his family is suing because of his death. Why? Mr. Harrison was drunk, called 911, stated that he was going to kill someone, and refused to show his hands to an officer. Now the family wants to sue the BGPD and the officer involved. It's not their fault. Mr. Harrison was mentally challenged and a drunk. The family didn't seem too concerned about his alcoholism. Why didn't they send him to rehab? If he had the mind of an 8 year old, why did he not have guidance from the family? I think they're just trying to get rich instead of taking responsibility for their roles in Mr. Harrison's death.
