Quakertown High School didn't close or have a delay. Several students had minor accidents. Another case of poor judgement by officials.

What do you think they do in upstate NY, close for every dusting they get?

It wasn't just QCSD. EVERY district in Upper Bucks got caught with this.

Pennridge didn't announce until 7:20 am on Channel 6...well after the HS students were on their way to school!

They did at least delay the elementary students, with far more buses on the road then.

Exactly, so why do we complain about an inch.

Just look at the panic when they do call for an inch...everyone flocks to the grocery store and buys up all the milk, bread, and eggs.

This isn't like it was back in the 60's and 70's when we had big snowstorms and actually got snowed in for days at a time. I miss those days!

I hope we get a big snowstorm this year! We're overdue. I'd like to see a repeat of '96 again.

It was not the fact that we got a bit of snow. It was the fact that nothing had been done to the roads at all, because it was unexpected. The roads were HORRIBLE I actually went back home and waited a while. I had no control over the stinkin car.

While I was not happy with Q-town's decision to not call a delay for the 7am start students who are required to get themselves to school due to not buses being provided. I did what I, the parent, thought was best and made my kids go to school later when the roads were better. I woul dmuch rather my child miss a few classes then put inexperienced drivers behind the wheel.

Agreed. My wife has a 4x4, and was sliding all over the place going in to work. I have the luxury of working from home on days like this!

Were those students driving in themselves? If so, it's their parents fault for letting them!

I had my truck in 4X4 until I hit 309, then didn't need it anymore. 309 was blacktop, just wet. People just need to know how to handle 4WD and how to drive in the snow.

Good call. Most would push on and cause an accident.

She left for work @ 6:40. Most of town and Richland Township were ice, as well as 309.

parts of 309, 611, 663, 202, 313 were closed to name a few...my kid works for Pendot, and usually Harrisburg calls it...it was totally unexpected...usually with even a small chance, they are called in to pretreat...no calls, sure caught "with our pants down", lol...it was downright scary! predicting snow tonight, so Pendot is already in and pretreating, at least in the Doylestown area!

Some people with 4WD go faster because they get better traction and for that reason mistakenly think they'll stop better than 2WD.

Who cares, we are not living in upstate NY! People around here don't have the driving experience they do in upstate NY.

I used to live in northern PA. Every little narrow road there spends its time on a hill, in a curve, or sloping to one side or the other - sometimes while in a curve on a hill. I have never driven anything but rear-wheel or front-wheel drive cars and you'd be surprised what you can safely drive through if you respect the laws of physics.

Slow on curves and stopping while maintaining momentum while climbing hills. Common sense goes a long way in avoiding getting stuck or in an accident.

It was a sheet of ice, under that snow that caught everyone off guard .

Upstate NY has much better road preparedness than here. Just because the snow wasn't predicted doesn't mean it wasn't there. Aren't the school officials supposed to check the weather in the am?
There's a two hour delay today, it was predicted and the roads were treated. So does that mean we have to rely on the weather people that are 50/50? The school officials should do their job instead of putting students, buses and everyone else at risk.
