Google the name 'Michael Alayon' for the flip side of this coin. If we are going to give stiffer penalties regular citizens who drink and kill then we for sure ought to give stiffer penalties to cops who drink and drive and hit and run and then try to cover it up! They are trained to handle emergencies! THEY should be held to a higher standard and/or penalty than the average citizen! Where is the outrage on THIS?????

I am the mother of Roy Alvin Adams Jr. Indeed, he was convicted of intoxication manslaughter in the death of Grapevine Police Officer Darren Medlin. For a different perspective on this case, please visit the choose2question.com website.

All well and good, no disrespect intended, but they shouldn't be able to have it both ways.

You have an excellent point, dsntslp.

We believe our son is innocent of intoxication manslaughter. Please visit our website--read our story and view the vidoes, especially the one of him being interrogated at the police station.

ok, I do not really feel that it is a good idea for you two be talking. I will say, There are no harsh feelings towards the Adam's family. Roy's family is not to blame for what happened.
This was a tragedy. I do believe that Justice has been served. All we can do now is get on with our lives. Like my mother stated, Roy gets to live his life again, Darren does not. And my little sister's will not get to have the joy of Darren being with them, through all of their stepping stones.

Gina - I can't walk in your shoes. I have sorrow in my heart for you and especially your children. There is no denying it was a horrible accident and we see it on the videotape. Justice should prevail no matter what emotions we all might have. Also, your husband's partner testified in court that my son didn't sound intoxicated on the 911 call. My son was not intoxicated nor impaired. He had an epileptic seizure. Others might want it to be different but I believe that ultimately truth and justice will prevail. Make the 911 tape available to me and I will post it on the choose2question.com website. Perhaps you can drop it off at the Euless Police Department. I can pick it up there.

There is no way that the two of you are going to see eye to eye. There is no use in trying, all it's going to do is frustrate everyone. Laura, you have a right to support your son, Mom you have a right to feel like you do. Just leave it at that.

Gina and daughter...as on the " choose2question.com " website our actions are not to diminish our condolences. We believe our son is wrongfully convicted. Just consider this example: You heard Dr. Peerwani testify the lab had "small, small things" they needed to do to be certified. If you have read the 2nd Court of Appeals brief denying my son's appeal, you would read that trial testimony exposed major deficiencies at the lab. You and your family sat through the trial. You did not hear the lab had major deficiencies. We did not. The jury did not. I encourage you to read what's on the " choose2question.com " website. The points presented can be confirmed by the pre-trial, trial, 2nd Court of Appeals brief and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's certification documentation. Our son is innocent. We will continue our efforts to have justice served.

You do that, Continue your efforts. However, Do you really feel that it is appropriate to push this website, On a comment page that is supposed to be talking about the passing of a bill that increased the penalties for intoxicated Manslaughter. This bill does not have anything to do with your son. He is not going to be effected by it. So please stop pushing the innocents of your son on this page. It has nothing to do with it. For a person that has so many people in the law enforcement field, I would think, since you are good people, that you would at least half way support the passing of this bill. I have looked at the website, I have watched your videos and I have read every bit of it, from head to toe. I was also in the court room. Believe what you want, it doesn't matter. But Please do not push it anymore here. This is supposed to be used to talk about the Bill, not your son.

Gina's daughter - I continue to acknowledge our condolences for your family. I wish there was an avenue to convey our concerns about the actions and decisions of the Lead Prosecutor, Euless Police Department, Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office and the TX 2nd District Court of Appeals in my son's case without involving the Medlin family. I can find no other way. You say you were in the courtroom during the trial and read what is posted on " choose2question.com ". You didn't indicate that you are in dispute with what we have on the website. I believe you understand why our family cannot accept my son's conviction. If there is something that is not true on the website, please let us know. We want the public to know the truth. My son's case has everything to do with the bill. The bill has been pushed and supported because Officer Medlin died while on duty as a result of a drunk driver, my son. That is not true. My son was not intoxicated or impaired. He had an epilepsy seizure. Passing a bill based on an untruth is no way to establish laws to protect the public. My wish is those involved with working to pass this law would work as diligently to follow and enforce existing laws.

I am not going to debate this issue with you. Like I said, support your son. It is very inappropriate for you, to disrespect the family, that your son stole from. Believe your son is innocent. I don't care. The truth was shown in the blood, as far as I am concerned. .11 is illegal. That is what I believe. Do not go trying to spread the word that I do not believe that your son is guilty. Because as far as I am concerned..HE IS. I don't care about what your website says. Conversation between you and my family is over from this point on.

I am sorry you have interpreted our efforts to obtain justice for our son as disrespect to the Medlin family. That is certainly not my intent.

You are absolutely correct --.11 BAC is illegal. Nothing else could be heard over the .11 BAC in my son's courtroom. In my opinion, the .11 BAC was a gigantic Goliath that had to be overcome. Fortunately, the state provided the following irrefutable facts surrounding the .11 BAC:

o The Tarrant County Lead Prosecutor’s office directed my son’s blood draw be handled differently than the regular process. The label was already on the blood draw package to go to the DPS lab in Garland. Instead of going to the DPS, the label was marked through and the blood draw went to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s lab. WHY?
o The Tarrant County Medical Examiner testified there were “small, small” things that needed to be changed in the lab to meet certification requirements. We learned after the trial that the lab was not in compliance with 11 essential requirements. Not meeting one (1) essential requirement means the lab cannot be certified. Thus, there appears to be a major disconnect between the Medical Examiner's testimony and what actually transpired with the lab's certification process.
o The TX 2nd Court of Appeals denied my son’s appeal. In their denial, they mentioned that “major deficiencies” in the lab were exposed in trial testimony. This did not happen. The jury did not have this information. The original judge did not hear this information. If he had, how could he have accepted evidence (.11 BAC) from the lab. Since the TX 2nd Court of Appeals had this information, how could they accept the evidence (.11 BAC) from the lab. How could they deny the appeal?

There is no way I can accept .11 BAC as truth.

I am not interpreting, you supporting your son as disrespectful. What is disrespectful, is trying shove this information down our throats. We believe what we believe. You believe what you believe. There is no way that you are going to convince us other wise. It is disrespectful for you to continue to force this information onto us. Please stop..

Gina daughter - I am sorry if you feel as though I am forcing this information on you. As I understand it, topix is a place to share, discuss and edit the news that's important to me. My son is in jail for a crime he did not commit. That's extremely important to me. I will continue to call out the discrepancies around his case at topix and at other media outlets available to me until he comes home. For any other readers of my comments, please go to " choose2question.com " for the story of Roy Adams Jr. and the questions his family has with the actions of the Texas judicial representatives associated with his case.

for those whom choose to read the website the other facts were not pointed out.
Where not pointed out if Roy was not drunk..
1. why did he refuse to do the sobriety test.. at the site.
2 He refused ,he was ask again and then asked again in the Euless Police station. 3.you provided the video let the the video show his refusal. keep in mind the time he refused. again in the video. if he were to have done this it would have shown his sobriety..and you would not be trying to convince yourself of your son innocents. Roy was in an accident and murdered my husband by intoxication manslaughter. Finally two hours later blood was drawn.. at the time his blood was drawn,it was few hours later and is blood alcohol was .11 still drunk. what level was it at the time he murdered Darren? and as far as his seizure video... he was not having a seizure when he killed Darren why,,,,, he was on the phone calling and 911 and home and was not passed out like his video showed. so...your theory of seizure and where the evidence blood was taken.. still shows .11 DRUNK. Your son has nothing do do with this bill... your son has shattered my life. You say your son was not wrongfully accused. Mam he was DRUNK. Murdered my husband and is not serving enough time. so your son will not be effected this Bill. This bill should have been passed along time ago. your son was found guilty and the facts and evidence shows it.
