Another dui incident and so many are out there without licenses, even!
I’ve become aware of a new political committee formed to amend a DUI law. Their brochure had all sorts of statistics for Illinois that were quite startling. Apparently a large segment of the Illinois population has fallen through the cracks. It seems that there are thousands of DUI offenders with revoked licenses driving out there anyway. Large percentages of them are intoxicated. They have no licenses, insurance or one of those breath devices. Apparently, this committee is about passing a law that will require them to have a restricted license, insurance and a breath device. They had a website (http://www.amend625.org) and I went there. It is definitely worth a look.

If this woman's last name would have been Rodriguez, Ramirez, Gonzalez or Martinez, the lynch mob would have posted over 1000 comments by now, and had her deported.

the judge was right to lock her up. if the family cared at all about this woman's bipolar disorder they would have sought mental health care a long time ago. i say, let her rot in prison for a good long time, with in-prison mental health care if indeed she has a legitimate mental illness. this woman should never again walk or drive freely. she belongs locked up forever.
OK Back it up!!! THE FAMILY DID TRY EVERYTHING THEY COULD!!!! DO NOT JUDGE THEM!!!! You have NO clue. I DO know the facts. Noreen has been given many many avenues of help from her wonderful family! They are NOT to be blamed here. They didn't give her the car or the keys or the booze. They did seek help for her multiple times. She is to blame not her family! Shame on all of you who pass judgement on her mother, sister or brother. They tried in vain and you aren't god so DONT act like you know the WHOLE truth!

I knew this family years ago very closely (I was friends with the younger sister who passed away). I feel very deeply for both sides of the story, as a result, due to what I personally know and the horrible events of Friday night. I in no way am backing what Noreen has done and I DO agree with the sentence; but I urge you to not make comments about things that you do not know. She is in no way the rich snob some are making her out to be in comments. And the Hession family HAD taken action about the mental illness Noreen has, starting years ago (I believe she had been committed even, but psych doctors released her). This is long-going, unfortunately it has gotten much worse over the years from what I now read. I haven't talked to them in a long time, so I can't say more than that. Just understand that the media is good at not releasing all of the information and human nature is to be very judgemental. The family is close-knit and doing what any family would do for their loved ones, trying to protect them. Again- human nature. Leave it to someone up above to do the judging.

Happy to see someone else is willing to look beyond the human nature blame game stuff.

I am disgusted by this story. It is hard to fathom that someone would be so irresponsible - a mother of two boys at that - to risk her life and the life of others. If people would just stop and think before they make stupid decisions such as this one, we might all be a bit safer. I hope this woman gets all she deserves - to never drive again and to suffer with the consequences of her choice for the rest of her life. Maybe next time champagne and pain killers won't sound so attractive.

To all of the bloggers who have driven with ANY AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL in their system at ANY TIME IN THEIR LIFE ...(that's including weddings, going out partying at night, ANY TIME)SHAME ON YOU (you know who you are) for even writing anything about this terrible accident. Just because you have driven with alcohol in your system and haven't gotten caught, or got in an accident, you have no right to say anything about this girl who was very unfortunate that this happened to her. I know she had a prior DUI, but even if she only drove while drinking those 2 times and got caught both times, you're very lucky this didn't happen to you! This girl had a terrible accident and will be living with this on her mind every day for the rest of her life. Let this be a lesson to you not to drink and drive from now on. This could have happened to anyone, including you. Alot of people have a few drinks and get in the car thinking they're okay to drive, they're just lucky their night didn't turn out like this one! Let this be a lesson learned to everyone out there! Accidents do happen ... that's why they're called ACCIDENTS!

The Hession family is a good family. No one has any right to judge them. What Noreen did was a terrible and tragic thing. Unfortunately for the Hessions, they have experienced tragedy after tragedy. I feel very sorry for the Parker family and what they are going through. Unforutnately Noreen knows what a terrible thing it is she has done and will have to live with that the rest of her life. I wish there was a no tolerance rule for drinking and hopefully many of these tragedies would have never happened. Shame on the reporter, Kim Janssen, to make Noreen out to be such a terrible person. Please report the facts, not your judgements on the person. Noreen is not the devil and just like you, has feelings and will probably never forgive herself for what she has done. By no means did she ever set out to hurt anyone, it's just an extremely unfortunate situation that occured. Please give this woman a break and instead focus on praying for the Parker family who needs all the prayers and good thoughts that they can get.

WHAT? Noreen IS a terrible person. It doesn't matter that she did not MEAN to kill a child and critical injury Ariel's mom, but by taking a drink with car keys in her purse and a car outside her door, she premeditated reckless homicide. This was NOT merely an unfortunate situation!

DUI laws, enforcement, and punishments need serious reform! The likes of Noreen Hession deserve no less than life in prison.

A question for "a friend"...

Does anyone have an update on the condition of the mother? Is there a fund where we can donate for Ariel Parkers burial and his mother's medical bills?

we need to focus on how to fix the problem. the state should take the license that day, and install a breathalyser to drive after many months of suspension, and counseling. Prescription drugs should be given only if the person has ongoing therapy. Any person who is in psychiatric hospitals should have on going check ups if they don't continue there meds.look at NIU. Off meds and self medicating not so good.

Must be nice to be perfect! You've probably never had any kind of accident in your life. You're so lucky! I wish I was you!

i'm an alcoholic who has plenty of accidents. But i finally grew up and figured out whats important. And adding to one's grief aint one of them. If this makes you feal like a better person then that just shows how shallow and stupid you are. Grow up and understand that two faimly's got fcked here. Shes going away for a long time. not long enough. but picking on her fam is cowardly. Pick on her all u want, but lay off her fam they tried reining in this loon and just could'nt. Back off "perfect"!
