Anyone want to try to tackle why someone would put their high powered rifle back into its case with a feakin' round in the chamber?

BTW thanks Morning Call for posting footage of a dear being skinned. Who’s the insensitive a-hole who thought people would want to see that?

I agree about common sense. But some people would b i tch & moan that violates their rights or something.

A kid in a saftey class is a great idea.

A drug dealer with a stolen gun - bad idea!

Because nobody screams at the kid to open the chamber and check it, you might traumatize the little darling. And these little darlings grow up to be the idiots that make up most of the population anymore.

I'd like to take a minute to address some of the ignorant thoughts that have been posted so far.

First of all lets define the word ignorant so I don't offend anyone.

Regulations for hunters under the age of 12 can be found at the following URL

http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/lib/pgc/digest...

synopsis, age 10 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 21. The adult may not hunt while with the youth and must accompany the youth at all times. The youth must hunt from a stationary location(not wandering the woods) and the adult must carry the firearm to and from that location.

Junior Hunters (12 to 15) regulations can be found here

http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/lib/pgc/digest...

Synopsis, ages 12 and 13 must be accompanied by and adult family member, ages 14 to 15 must be accompanied by any adult over the age of 18. all junior hunters must be under the immediate control of an adult. Over the age of 16 can hunt alone.

The PGC Hunter/Trapper Education information can be found here.

http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp... .

The course is FREE and REQUIRED for ALL first time hunters regardless of age!

The course does not teach you how to shoot a firearm!

The course covers the following topics,

# Hunter Responsibility and Ethics
# Principles of Wildlife Management and Conservation
# Firearms and Ammunition; Their Handling and Safety
# Wildlife Identification
# Field Care of Game
# Specialty Areas of Bowhunting and Muzzleloading
# Trapping and Furtaking
# Game Laws
# Survival and First Aid
# Turkey Hunting Safety

Many non hunters on this board could benefit from the HTE course.

There is a reason why people can not drive until 16-17 years old. It should be the same with guns. A ten year old should not be allowed to hunt with a firearm.

I'm a non hunter so I won't bother with the course. The only rule I need to know is:

#1 - See a kid with a gun - RUN
#2 - See an adult with a kid with a gun - RUN FASTER
#3 - Unable to run?- Play dead until they leave the area

Traditions are great, I agree. Years ago it was required for survival. Now just take the kids to the store and teach him how to shop.
Instead, take your kid fishing, a lot less shootings happen on the shore.
Actually drowning fatalities greatly outweigh childrens hunting accidents so maybe fishing isn't as safe as you are making it out to be.

Nevermind her, she is a knee jerk liberal. Taking her logic you should also not be allowed to swim until you are 18. If you are truly that concerned with children getting hurt or dying then you have to be consistant. After all more children die from drowning than they do from firearm accidents.
