This may not be the proper forum to discuss this, but this is weighing heavy on my heart. I was reading on another post that Sandy Smith is no longer on the AM Christian station of WJLS. It said that Sandy was fired for believing in Jesus Christ and being fed up with listening to the bad language at the station. I have met Sandy on numerous occasions and I just want her to know that she will truly be blessed for standing up for what is right and for every door that closes God opens another. Sandy will prosper over this. Our church will be praying for Sandy.

bill and lynn sold those stations and made millions. The new manager mark reed is clueless about the community and whats going on there. He lives in mercer county and runs that operation over the telephone. big ugly dave willis is on a glorified ego trip created by the devil. They need new blood in there quickly or the ship will be sunk!

OH GOOD LORD!! No one was fired because they believe in Jesus!

It's a GOSPEL STATION.. LMAO! That's the most insane thing I've ever heard. If they didn't like Christians.. I'm sure they would have ditched the format all together. They wouldn't have religious programming that PROMOTES CHRISITANITY!!(duh)

Maybe she wasn't fired.. maybe she quit? Why on earth are people so quit to assume? And if she was fired.. maybe it was her job performance.. maybe she did something to deserve it. Just because one is a Christian.. doesn't make one flawless in their job.

Got to give Bill credit for buying and selling to make a slick couple of million. First media is not a local company. ATTENTION ADVERTISERS!!! When you buy advertising on WJLS most of the money goes out of State! Talking about supporting the local economy. Sandy will get her justdo!

What they are saying is she was fired for carrying out her Christian beliefs. She left meetings where the general manager would curse and take the Lord's name in vain. Why would any Christian sit there and listen to someone break the Third Commandment?

Mark Reid is a low life piece of you know what. I had to listen to his rants and his fowl language firsthand. Advertisers, if you only knew what kind of shady dealings went on behind those doors, I assure you, you would spend your advertising dollars elsewhere. Another post was right... Dave Willis is just a, "yes" man but with good reason, the no-talent jock could never find work in that industry anywhere else.

The reason that you still hear bill o'bren on the fm side on friday night wwhs games is because of his love for local sports. He certainly does not need the money because he made millions in the sell out. He announces Beckley games as his passion. Apparently he wanted the money and did not care who he sold the station to. Now the place is in a mess. How does God view greed?

It is a dark day for local believers who enjoyed getting up for Joy in the Morning for so many years. If Sandi was forced to leave or left because of the current management, you can be sure it is an indicator of how far down things had went behind the scenes. If she left under good circumstances (which is not likely considering how long she was there and would probably not leave for a job somewhere else just to advance), then good luck to her. If not, then you can watch for the station to further degrade as the internal woes manifest themselves on the air. I would say that the format will probably change soon to something non-Christian, or something rebroadcast from some nation synidcated service, with local news and weather dropped in. Sad day, and I say this as a friend who was close to her for years.

You must be a bored and narcissitic old fart. Did you think you had to post your comments on both of those forums about your friend? If you was such a good friend, why not call her or visit her and get it straight from the horse's mouth about what happened, instead of interjecting your ridiculous 2 cents.

Okay first of all it sounds as though you are a little to close to the source. If you work there you would know how terribly they treat their workers unless you are one of those snobby pretentious types that are in management or one of the over inflated ego Djs that they have on the FM side. the only reason they have a am 560 now is because it still pulls money from where they do commercials games and church programs that pay ever increasing rates to put their program on. Sandi does not deserve that from you or anyone at that station. You need to calmn down and shut your mouth look to yourself cause i am pretty sure whomever you are youll be fired soon to or karmas going to bite you in the butt

I have a friend whose wife listens to contemporary Christian music. She will turn it on in the car and he will say; Ah the words of God played to the music of Satan. She gets hopping mad at us both.
