I attended a church the past couple of weeks with a family memeber of mine. I have been against church but thought maybe my outlook on them was wrong so I thought I would attend and see. I was really shocked at the way the people in the church acted. While sitting there with my family the people in front of us and behind us were talking about other people in the church. They was talking about how people dressed and the family problems that people whom attended the church. It was just awful.

It is really sad, but you should still give church a chance. Some people do go there for the word of God and to live right. I also attend a church and people talk really bad about people in the church and outside of the church. This one lady even talks bad about her inlaws and the mothers of her grandchildren. It really is sad it goes on, but maybe God will touch their heart and they will see what they do is wrong.

Churches are attended by people. All people have faults. You should go to church to worship God and give thanks, not to look at people. It would be great if we could all just go to church and have all our faults disappear. I cant tell you how many times I have cringed while going out to eat on a Sunday and see someone that has obviously just come from church, treat a waitress poorly. That action reflects on the person, not God. I always think that person and the world would have been better off if they had stayed home.

No I didn't go to church to hear what this one was saying about that one, hell I can hear that shit at work. It was kind of hard to miss when the people in front of me was talking to the people behind me (work with me now, that would put me in the middle) about the people at church they clearing didn't like. I'm sorry I forgot my damn ear plugs at home and had to listen to the same bullshit I hear out of church. So I guess I will just stay home on sundays now because they made it clear to me that what I felt in the first place was right; church is a gossip place where all the local people can get together and talk about the ones they don't like or are jealous of. Then when they walk out the doors they act like they are so much better than others. Hell I can read that shit on facebbok.
why do you care?

Well, there's a saying, Christians aren't without sin, they just are forgiven. At least you went, you were looking to find love, mercy, and all the things that Christ teaches us. Well, so were they. Maybe they have a bit further to go on the path to the perfection Christ exemplified but it says 'Judge not lest ye be judged', and as long as someone is trying to be a better person today than they were yesterday, it's a good thing.

I'd say keep attending church, either that one or another one, but worry about your own journey of faith and not so much about those around you. Perhaps overhearing that conversation was God's way of making you think about how NOT to act both while in his house and in everyday life. I know I see things when I'm out in town and there are times I really think 'Those people are awful' or 'that person is a terrible driver' or 'that woman is SO rude!', and what it does is make me pay attention to my own behavior, my own driving, or whatever...so I learn a lesson from their poor example. Maybe that's what you were meant to do that day.

I hope you find a nice church to go to and enjoy fellowship in. There is nothing so comforting as having a church home, at least that's the way I have always felt. God Bless!

I have been to a ton of different churches. I am not looking for a perfect church, but would like one that is biblically sound and where the people there are nice. I am a non denominational christian. i prefer the holman christian standard bible, contemporary rock style music, and 4 point calvinism. it shocks me at how many pastors i have met, that are idiots doctrinally! when i try to share things with them, even with scripture, i am labeled as one that is causing division, a troublemaker, someone who is bringing discord to the unity of our church, the enemy, etc. I email a praise and worship song suggestion to the pastor, they never use it and say that they are not my personal dj, and its not all about fullfilling my needs, its about Jesus. Pastors pick their favorites based on whom tithes the most, or lives closest to him. people gossip, and are more acquaintances than they are friends, and nobody wants to give you a ride. overall, church is not for everybody. ESPECIALLY ME!

Church is not for everyone. Their are fake people in many shapes and forms. Some people think they can join a church and live right. Been there, done that, you can live right and be a good person without going to church.

The CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLE club is a great example of the hypocrisy of christianity. Not long ago I had the displeasure of meeting several of their officers and rank and file. The president is the most openly two faced bastard Ive met lately. He wanted top preach a message that flew in the face of everything he truely feels. He spoke of love peace and such...then expressed his beleives against blacks& hispanics[note none in his club] gays and interacal relationships. I finely had enough and shut his ignorant ass down. How you ask? I beat his ASS down with his own bible.Verse after verse he stood there perplexed how I was able to destroy him with the book he thought protected his veiws.Christians not all but the majority would be residents of HELL if I beleived in such Fairytales. If you cant be a good decent person without worshipping a fake deity you will forever be a bad person-worshipping a book written by MEN makes you a blind fool calling yourself a christian fools noone but you when we can see whats in your heart and unfortunately have to listen to your nonsense. Setting on a pew once or twice a week just means you have nothing better or constructive to do

What I ask is why does everyone assume you need to go to Church to receive Salvation, or Worship God, or have a relationship with God. Do None of you READ the Bible ? When God Himself states, " The Most High dwells not in temples made with hands " Why then , do I ask, you attend any man made place God says He is not in ?

Do you not Read as well where He established a NEW Covenant with His people ? It is recorded Both in the OT and the NT . Jesus gave His life to fulfill ALL of the Law of the OT and now has with Better Promises established a NEw Testament ( Covenant).
Which plainly states He Dwells WITHIN His People and that WE have that SAME Anointing ( Jesus is the Anointed one) and He teaches us all things that we have no need of a man to teach us....and He also says ALL know Him from the least to the greatest and that ALL of Creation Knows, So I ask again why do you attend a man made ritualistic self doctrinal place you call a church that God is not in ?
He also tells us WE are His Temple, His House, His Tabernacle the place where He dwells.Yet most all people still go set under a man/woman who are self called , preaching their own doctrines and claiming God told them to build a church, collect money and live in fancy homes and drive exotic cars and dress like the world, talk like the world and act like the rest of the world,( that btw Gods said to come out from among ) and then use one scripture they know nothing of that states "forsake not to assemble yourselves together", as a way to get their gain and yet seem to forget who we are suppose to assemble with which is written in Hebrews 12, that says," But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh "

That Friends is not any assembly in any man made building you call a church.

Plus it says to Not be Unequally yoked with unbelievers. And as this Poster noted everyone was doing everything in that church except having their hearts on God, Thus Unbelievers. What has light to do with darkness ? Christ with belial ? Righteousness with unrightesouness ?

So you are assembled with people who know nothing of God, obey nothing of God and refuse to follow His word and His ways but will follow mans traditions, customs and doctrines ?

People need to LEARN the Truth of who God is and what His Word says for themselves , between them and God, instead of depending on someone in a pulpit in a building made with hands God is not among and God did not Call !!!

I'm an atheist pretending to be Christian for the obvious benefits here in the bible belt. Besides the socialization in church, I enjoy the rich gossip I pick up there.

That is what us gays and gay supportives call a biggot. They can pass judgement all day long and think its OK. Or my personal fav, use bible verses as weapons yet forget about what verses really meant the most to god. Love one another and the 10 commandments, one of which has to od with judgement, yet not a single of the 10 commandments have anything to do with gays... Go figure...

Now why I dont believe in homosexuality since according to scripture it is an abomination in the site of God I dont believe it is our place to judge anyone and I would show them the same respect I would show anyone. That is how true Christians should act and should show love and compassion to all.

Gigi,
I doubt you have any idea what God is happy or unhappy with, since you lack even the education to spell the cities that were destroyed correctly! I think I think if more people would learn to READ, THINK, and get a decent EDUCATION then they would see that there is a lot more in this world to worry about than who is sleeping with WHOM!!! And if you are LUCKY enough to find a single person to love you, cherish you, be faithful to you, treat you like they would give their very life for you, then you damn well better be glad about it!!! And anyone who tells you love in any manner between two consenting adults is wrong is just a jealous person who has never been blessed with love themselves!

You don't know that God is going to stop ANYONE from going to Heaven, you don't have that right! All Christ asked us to do was believe in Him, and that is all. From there on, we do the best we can to live decent lives, be kind to one another and survive. I hear and read what you people write on here, you look to gossip about who's sleeping with whom, who's selling drugs, how drunk you and your buddies got last weekend, and you have the NERVE to say you are a better Christian, a better person than someone born gay? What a load of crap!

I have gay friends, I have straight friends, I have friends who are of all faiths and religions, and some who have no religion. I don't judge them by their beliefs, I love them as my friends because of who they are INSIDE, how they treat me and others around them. I have found more charity in the heart of a gay athiest many times than in a Christian hypocrite. You should look inside your own heart and see what is in there. Is it love for your fellow man and woman, or is it pride, hate, judgement, and disdain?

You are no better than any other person on this Earth. Proclaiming to have been 'saved' doesn't guarantee you a place in Heaven, either. You best wake up, there's a lot more to this world than these mountains and valleys, and unless you start recognizing that you are responsible for making a difference in this world, you're going to be lost.
