miners make good money (75-80 thousand a year average) and pay alot of taxes,guess they figure they gotta get it back some way!

yeah i have seen alot of these women with there kids and there daddy who are wearing mine clothing using ebt cards its welfare fruad and people coming to a store with there sisters and stuff using there ebt cards to pay for all there stuff guess more then people on welfare get there part in it two

If they make all that money, that's the reason they don't give a damn about the WV heritage of beautiful mountains, clean streams and fresh air. They will leave future generations a pile of crap for the money now. Looks to me, from the posts I have read, that they could spend a little of that money on spelling,reading and writing classes. Maybe a dentist or two also.

See this inbred does not understand most of that is overtime which makes those numbers a joke to those who only work a forty hour work week. My husband works for Massey and he is a salaried employee which means he could work 5 hours one week and 40 the next and still makes the same money($155,000 yearly),so most of the employees only have to work 45 hours sometimes 54 if it's a 6 day work week and that's not alot of overtime to be making $70,000 to $80,000 a year.
I for one am proud of what my husband makes and so are many of the other wives,at least our husband's do work and they work not just for our families,but to help everyone in our community.
So unless you know what our husband's do and exactly how long they work don't talk trash and try to act like you write their pay checks and know what they make or pay in taxes.And why would anyone have to scam the state,come on we live in WV its not like the cost of living is much!

did you people ever realize coal miners get layed off alot? Did you guys forget we have a bad economy right now? Lots of miners have been layed off in the past few months!! And so what if they make overtime! Its easy to make alittle overtime in the mines. Most of that over time is made sleeping on the man trip on the way out. Plus miners make this 80 thousand a year in 2 weeks without working weekends too. Tell me whats wrong with that. But Im sure there are a few that are breaking the law though and not reporting there jobs!

I know what miners make and I know the hours they have to work. I know they don't make 80,000 in two weeks and I know most of their pay is overtime. See people I am in wv and know thousands of miners and have a family member that works right under don. I just had a big party with a bunch of miners in aug man they tell it like it really is. They don't come on the internet spewing lies about how great they are and how much money they have. Most of them are upset that they work six days a week ten hours a day and don't get to see their families. Yes they do scam the system for medical and such because they do not want to pay the medical the companies make them pay now. These coal miners will continue to scam the state will continue as long as the coal companies keep reducing wages and medical benefits. Must feel great to give you life to this shi! And still have to scam the state.

I have never said that i like mounatains without tops. there you go again, telling things that you can not back up. I have also said it would be wonderful if there were other jobs here so they we did not have to mine coal, but that is not reality. I did say that I love mountains, the ones with coal under them. I wish the citizens of WV had another way make a good living, but for many that is not an option. I remember being 8 years old and my father trapped in a mine accident and thinking that he was dead. I dont want any family going through that. and if we can mine coal without putting men down in the ground and having more families go through that, then i am all for it. You tree huggers insulting me will not change my opinion. Been there done that, dont want other families doing it. Als watched my father for thirty years after he left the mines and had another career still spit up black coal dust when he had coughing spasms. So you dont know what the hell you are talking about.
