Obama: Stop Condescending to Women

Unfortunately some college women AND a few very smart women (or those who think they're smart) don't have a lick of COMMON SENSE.

Campbell Brown - Campbell Brown is a former news anchor for CNN and NBC.

The women I know who are struggling in this economy couldn’t be further from the fictional character of Julia, presented in Mr. Obama’s Web ad,“The Life of Julia,” a silly and embarrassing caricature based on the assumption that women look to government at every meaningful phase of their lives for help.

My cousin in Louisiana started a small company with a little savings, renovating houses. A single mom, she saved enough to buy a home and provide child care for her son. When the economy went belly up, so did her company. She was forced to sell her home and move in with her parents. She has found another job, but doesn’t make enough to move out. Family, not government, has been everything to her at this time of crisis. She, and they, wouldn’t have it any other way.

Another member of my family left her job at an adoption agency just before the economy crashed. Also a single mother, she has been looking for a way back to a full-time job ever since. She has been selling things on eBay to make ends meet. Friends and family, not government, have been there at the dire moments when she has asked them to be. Again, she, and they, wouldn’t have it any other way.

This is not to say that government doesn’t play a role in their lives. It does and it should. But it isn’t a dominant one, and certainly not an overwhelming factor in their daily existence.

It’s obvious why the president is doing a full-court press for the vote of college-educated women in particular.

Romney's heaven: To be the God of his own universe, complete with an unlimited number of goddesses forever pledged to him, who are eternally pregnant producing spirit babies.

LOL!

Okay -- which major feminist groups are endorsing Romney?

You cant be endorsed by a feminist group unless you support abortion. Why is abortion the most pressing issue for women in this counrty? There is this new thing out called birth control.

I see a lot of women in this counrty with a lot more pressing issues than abortion. What about a woman who stays home and raises a family and then her husband dies at middle age, women who are victims of abuse (by men that liberal judges put back on the street), men who wont pay child support. I could go on. But for feminist groups it is always about abortion and gay issues. news flash- the vast majority of women in this country are not gay and most dont need an abortion.

So Natalie... are you suggesting Mr Magical Underpants economic strategy can be summed up as such?

I wonder if it is hard for a woman to get into his magical underpants.

Thats about the only horse I got in this race... Just needed some good ole mormony goodness.

Speaking of patronizing: "There is this new thing out called birth control." For one thing, birth control doesn't always work, champ. For another, a frightening number of Republicans are working hard to LIMIT women's access to birth control. And there are heartbreaking cases where planned pregnancies go terribly wrong.

Abortion rights are important for one simple reason: Ultimately they are about who controls women's bodies.

Why is it that the party that wants government out of areas of common good, like the environment and protecting workers, wants it inside my uterus?

You could ask that very same question about the far right and evangelicals--why is it "always about abortion and gay issues"?

However, you won't.

You pick and choose your stereotypes.

I dont want anything to do with your uterus. Why do you want me to pay for what you do with it? No one is working to limit access to birth control. we just want you to pay for your own. I always have.
