Sorry for the Sermon... but it is Sunday and you wrote a lot so it will take a lot to address.<quoted text>
Hrm.. first off, Dislike Justice Thomas Though back in the 80s/90s whenever it happened I knew he got a bad rap. I dont dislike him because hes conservative. I dislike him because he essentially does nothing or adds nothing to the conversation. Whats the point of a supreme court justices say when its like pulling teeth to get him to say anything.
I do agree with you that this sort of racism is uncalled for in this day and age because the people who are out there perpetuating this kind of attitude never felt the oppression of slavery. Their parents did not feel it, there grandparents didnt either. Now racism, in this day and age has essentially balanced itself out and this generation of black is the first one that has been truly devoid of any sort of racist negative effects.
Which is why I find FAU girl perplexing, Because she says things like white people raped her ancestors... but does she understand that didnt happen until after her ancestors SOLD her ancestors to white slave traders? Does she understand that in the US Black people were pretty much OK with Slavery for almost 200 years with only nominal resistance to it. It wasnt until the last 60 years it became a problem specifically because of the labor intensive work associated with cotton. I mean where were those facts when she smacked a white kid in the face? Where were those facts when she was trying to tell her prof he was wrong for what he was teaching. Yes conveniently left out.
However IC... I take exception that you say that we have to stop with this generation placing the blame, When you want to blame Obama for something he has absolutely nothing to do with. Problems with Black on white violence in no way shape or form relate back directly to Obama. It comes back to the same problem it always has been. Poverty and disproportionate wealth distribution that sees entirely too many people stuck at the bottom with no chance to rise up.
Thats the flaw in your thinking, Your bogus republican rhetoric that if people work hard they can make their way up to the top. Its not true, and has not been true in this country for almost as long as this has been a country. All that rhetoric is, Is in place to keep the poor from rising up and toppling over the wealthy. Absolutely nothing more. Its a lie, its an illusion and people need to stop being duped by it.
And there in lies the problem. Poverty breeds crime. The republican machine expects to perpetuate the status quo without people resisting it and does so by banking on the ignorance of the common man. However that balance is on the verge of being toppled over now. We the people are sick of seeing a country where only a select few have opportunity. We the people are sick of watching our government of the people, by the people and for the people being sold out to corporate interests. We the people are not going to continue to tolerate the republican lie, the southern strategy or any of the bullshit that has perpetuated this for the last 30-50 years. So the republicans if they do not want the entire system to topple that they are so determined to maintain, they might want to step back and allow the people to undo the damage they have allowed to happen, because History has shown time and time again, that we will only listen to "let them eat cake" before we start chopping heads and shoving that cake down their throat. The cake has always been a lie.
So thats why we see such wide spread black on white hate and resentment. Its not because of Slavery, its not because of equal rights. Black people wanted equal chance for jobs and to earn their way. It was given to them, but there are no jobs and they are pissed they have not had their chance to "rise up and take their place amongst the wealthy"
If people have legit opportunity, there is no need for hate or crime
