Sorry for the Sermon... but it is Sunday and you wrote a lot so it will take a lot to address.

Hrm.. first off, Dislike Justice Thomas Though back in the 80s/90s whenever it happened I knew he got a bad rap. I dont dislike him because hes conservative. I dislike him because he essentially does nothing or adds nothing to the conversation. Whats the point of a supreme court justices say when its like pulling teeth to get him to say anything.

I do agree with you that this sort of racism is uncalled for in this day and age because the people who are out there perpetuating this kind of attitude never felt the oppression of slavery. Their parents did not feel it, there grandparents didnt either. Now racism, in this day and age has essentially balanced itself out and this generation of black is the first one that has been truly devoid of any sort of racist negative effects.

Which is why I find FAU girl perplexing, Because she says things like white people raped her ancestors... but does she understand that didnt happen until after her ancestors SOLD her ancestors to white slave traders? Does she understand that in the US Black people were pretty much OK with Slavery for almost 200 years with only nominal resistance to it. It wasnt until the last 60 years it became a problem specifically because of the labor intensive work associated with cotton. I mean where were those facts when she smacked a white kid in the face? Where were those facts when she was trying to tell her prof he was wrong for what he was teaching. Yes conveniently left out.

However IC... I take exception that you say that we have to stop with this generation placing the blame, When you want to blame Obama for something he has absolutely nothing to do with. Problems with Black on white violence in no way shape or form relate back directly to Obama. It comes back to the same problem it always has been. Poverty and disproportionate wealth distribution that sees entirely too many people stuck at the bottom with no chance to rise up.

Thats the flaw in your thinking, Your bogus republican rhetoric that if people work hard they can make their way up to the top. Its not true, and has not been true in this country for almost as long as this has been a country. All that rhetoric is, Is in place to keep the poor from rising up and toppling over the wealthy. Absolutely nothing more. Its a lie, its an illusion and people need to stop being duped by it.

And there in lies the problem. Poverty breeds crime. The republican machine expects to perpetuate the status quo without people resisting it and does so by banking on the ignorance of the common man. However that balance is on the verge of being toppled over now. We the people are sick of seeing a country where only a select few have opportunity. We the people are sick of watching our government of the people, by the people and for the people being sold out to corporate interests. We the people are not going to continue to tolerate the republican lie, the southern strategy or any of the bullshit that has perpetuated this for the last 30-50 years. So the republicans if they do not want the entire system to topple that they are so determined to maintain, they might want to step back and allow the people to undo the damage they have allowed to happen, because History has shown time and time again, that we will only listen to "let them eat cake" before we start chopping heads and shoving that cake down their throat. The cake has always been a lie.

Hallelujah!

So thats why we see such wide spread black on white hate and resentment. Its not because of Slavery, its not because of equal rights. Black people wanted equal chance for jobs and to earn their way. It was given to them, but there are no jobs and they are pissed they have not had their chance to "rise up and take their place amongst the wealthy"

If people have legit opportunity, there is no need for hate or crime

If you were such a great student of history, you would know that marie antoinette never actually said "let them eat cake".
But it seems liberals in the 18th century had no more respect for the truth than liberals today.

Hey Piglette... Ill be short and sweet. How about you cite exactly where I Specifically referenced the french revolution OR Marie Antoinette or kindly shut the fuck up.

As always Piglette, you know not of which you speak, but you wont let that stop you. Or maybe, its too much to ask you to understand and comprehend the context of what you read. But Ive seen the forum over the week and I can clearly tell you severely missed me because you had no where to fling your shit and everyone just dismisses you for the moron you are. Which is what I intend to do.

Rodney King got beatup, which I admit was wrong, yet the African American population LA then thought it was ok to act like hooligans and riot and rob places? They decided to start killing each other over it. Nice common sense there.

VirVoX Populi, a short answer to your sermon ---- I know poverty (extreme poverty) and at a time when there were few government handouts. It's not an excuse for crime or a reason for crime. Everyone has choices - use them to advance yourself OR blame others, rely on the government handouts & hope for more and/or steal.

Rodney King wasn't an icon of civil rights. He was a drug addict that couldn't stay out of trouble. Rosa Parks was an Icon of civil rights, Martin Luther King was an Icon of civil rights, not some dumbass who takes LSD and angel dust. Good riddance to you Rodney king the world is a better place now that you aren't driving around high on mind altering drugs putting the public in danger.

I don't think Rodney King ever felt comfortable with being an icon of the civil rights movement but there is no doubt that he moved it forward. Who knows how many beatings by the authorities his filmed beating prevented.
My son was driving home from a second shift at work several years ago when he stopped to get gas and was a witness to a beating of a black guy by the police. It made a searing impression on him. He was from a generation, maybe the first generation, of kids who didn't look at color but at character and ability. His best friend in kindergarten was a little black kid who was a duplicate of him except in color, his highschool idol was Curt Warner who went on to be a football star at Penn State and the NFL, his golf idol was Tiger Woods, his basketball idol was Michael Jordan, and he voted for Barach Obama in 2008. Well, hey, they're almost the same age and they were both working hard to get ahead in life. Obama might be a little ahead of him but they're both cut from the same cloth. I'm so proud of them both.
See what you wrought, Rodney King...you should be proud!

Found him at the bottom of his swimming pool. And Reginald Denny didn't ask to be beaten either. Big difference - Denny was in his big rig working for a living when pulled out and beaten during the LA riots. King was twice the legal limit, led police on a high-speed chase, resisted arrest acted bizarrely and was still very much combative after police tried to subdue and even tazed him.
The police hit King "over 50 times with batons, kicked him and shot him with stun guns. He was left with 11 skull fractures, a broken eye socket and facial nerve damage." No one in a civilized country should be beaten like that by the authorities....sounds like Syria.

Rodney King was a troubled person with major problems but his beating by LA police brought about a change in race relations and in the LA police department. So he was an accidental icon of the civil rights movement.

You might have experienced poverty... but you do not KNOW or comprehend poverty. When Im telling you poverty breeds crime... Im not talking about one individual being broke. Im talking about that individual, their immediate family their extended family their friends, their community, all being broke. Its one thing to be poor yourself and not let your poverty effect your decisions. Its completely another when yourself and basically every one you know and every one in your community holds this same standard of hopeless living. Im not talking about the choices of one individual, Im speaking of quite literally millions.

Again, this is why republican ideology fails every time.

And the majority of the poor people in Beckley live in Beckley West, the apartments beside New River Park, and East Beckley. Most of those folks are what race? I don't think you should be allowed to keep popping out kids when you can't afford it. Just makes it worse, especially for that child. Use some common sense.

I have been hearing so many negative things about new river park. i had to see it for myself... Me my child 2 yrs old my mother 54 yrs old and my little nephew went to new river park this weekend. I was expecting folks to be running amuck, folks messing with others personal items on their blankets unnecessary horseplay and rowdiness but I didn' t see any of this. Everyone was well behave everyone got along it was a lot of fun and I would absolutely go back in a second. It was a great time for all of us... good food good staff nice pool temperature nice kids nice adults I really enjoyed it. Even good to see Al the ice cream man still there although yes I know he has a checkered past.. He too was very well behaved.

Vox, so what you are saying is that trouble makers like you have always lied to promote their cause. You are right, I did misread what you posted. You were posting that people should lie (since marie antionette never said let them eat cake, but it was attributed to her to stir up the rabble) to stir up discord and violence. Have you ever actually studied the French Revolution. That whole bunch of treacherous bastards ending up killing each other and making it possible for the rise of Napoleon. Is that what you want for the United States. You are a damnable liar for spreading your garbage about the lack of opportunity in this country. As for me shutting up, I will not let you spew your garbage all over the good people of this area without challenge.
People who are living in povertry in this counrty are doing so because of bad moral decisions for the most part. People come to this country and wash dishes and drive cabs and send the next generation to Ivy League Schools. This is still the land of opportunity.

Piglet.

What was too complex about

"cite exactly where I Specifically referenced the french revolution OR Marie Antoinette"

AND

"everyone just dismisses you for the moron you are. Which is what I intend to do."

for you to understand?

I never attributed the saying to Marie Antoinette or the French revolution. I never brought either of those up. YOU did because it steers the thread in the direction your trying to railroad it into. I said it and it was perfectly understandable as a setup for the Portal reference.

And because Ive seen how you are with "anyone who doesnt think like you" So when you failed to incite more ire out of me, what do you do? try to pull in reinforcements for your bogus claims.

Here, Ill explain it to you like I would a child.

The
promise
that
if
you
work
hard
you
can
succeed
is
a
lie.

Success is not deciding between a minimum wage bank teller job, a commission based under minimum wage cell phone sales associate job and a cable installer job that you will have to compete with 50 or more applicants IS NOT OPPORTUNITY. But lo and behold if you look on the register heralds websites under available jobs listed over the last week, thats all that was added. How many people are out of work in Raleigh county right now? And good god dont look up the word Nepotism or monopoly because your skull might explode.

Again, its not that I think everyone who disagrees with me is a moron. Its really only you because you have repeatedly shown yourself to be a moron, not only to me, but to other people on this forum. Your rhetoric is flawed, because your ideology, much like Newt Gingrich when he said he was going to go to the ghetto and teach people how to get a job as if that was what was holding back people locked in poverty.(yes in this country you can have MULTIPLE jobs and still exist in poverty.) THe ideoilogy is centered around each case of poverty being classified individually when poverty always has been an effect that is applied to groups of people numbering in the thousands if not tens of thousands.

So this notion that 1 person who is poor doesnt let their personal situation drive them to a life of crime is flawed because your not dealing with one person, your dealing with an entire community of people who are locked into poverty due to insufficient levels of opportunity.

But again I just wasted more breath on you. Your going to again try to portray me as some evil liberal wanting to steal the lint from your pockets which I am not and cite some pointless straw man argument in order to deflect the conversation in the way you want it to go so you dont have to address the actual facts of the matter. I dont care., I know this is what you will do because it IS what you do.

You are the reason I loose interest in talking on this forum because you are the very epitome of the saying "you can lead mankind to reason but you cannot make him think" and really I dont like expending energy for my words to fall on ignorant ears. Go back to wallowing in your own filth and delusions piggy, its really the only thing your good at.

I say goodday sir!
