Shayne Riggleman's Friend Says Jealousy Fueled Shooting Rampage

Morgantown, WV was the site of a deadly killing rampage which left 6 people dead, including the shooter, and 2 others injured.

"Police won't say what they believe provoked Riggleman, but one victim's close friend says it may have been jealousy over an ex-girlfriend who sometimes lived in the run-down home in the woods a few miles west of Morgantown."

"He was always laughing and joking and trying to make sure they had a better day and a better life than what they think they have," she said.

Though Faulknier defended her old friend, she said she suspected Riggleman had mental problems because she'd seen two sides of his personality.

A classmate notes -- "He was that really nice, funny guy that would do anything for you," she said, "but when that time came that you would make him mad, he was a totally different person. He was almost uncontrollable."

~~~~A terrible tragedy.
That's so sad. According to statements I'd read from his mother today, she says that he'd gone off of his meds for bi-polar disorder & schizophrenia.
I have to respectfully disagree that a truly jealous person will never admit it. Many do, and many are extremely dangerous, and they're not liars.
Rage is common when they blow, yes. Does insanity make them jealous, or does jealousy make them insane...I've never figured that one out. It takes all kinds, I suppose, but some, this world could do well without.
Good points -- I think the jealousy develops gradually and grows to the point that makes them insane.
I don't know, I've known both types, and each was as bad as the other. Even in mild forms, when I notice jealousy in someone, I'm very uneasy and distance myself from the person.
I had a friend that experienced a similiar situation to this! She dated a guy that was absolutely crazy!!!!!!!!!! He was insanely jealous...but the reason he was is because he was cheating. He seemed to be ok @ first but then he went off the wacky radar, he would drink a lot and do drugs then accuse her of cheating, I think even hitting her at times. She would try to leave he would cry and promise not to do it again and even threaten to harm himself or her. Once he even attempted this! It is sad to say but this relationship ended our friendship because I was scared of this guy....Idk if they are together now or not! I heard a few months back she had left him for good, I hope for her sake this is true!!!!!
Jealousy and insanity both travel near the same line. It is when the cross, you get a reaction like this. There was a report that he was bi-polar and not taken his medication. It seems that we need some type of law for these people diagnosed with this. Either they take their meds or they get locked up, no, ifs, ands or buts about it. This follows with the shooting out west. The man had diagnosed disorders, yet he was allowed to run the streets, even after assaulting an officer.
Everybody has rights, but everybody also has a right to be able to live and not live in fear, especially of people that refuse to take what meds are ordered in order for them to remain in control.
As for the lady that was assaulted. Stop running from her. Just make sure that you are protected. Video tape her actions. File charges against her for stalking and harrassment. Just don't let her run your life.
Thank you for your words. There are quite a few on these forums that will tell you different, but they do not know the underlying causes. Watch them, they are buddies one moment and backstabbing ones with a twist.
