Does anyone here remember this? Her name was Margaret Dodd, she worked in the Raleigh mall at the time. She was abducted at a gas station that use to be in Beaver right next to where the boat dealership is. There were even a few eye witnesses to the incident. One child said the man kind of resembled Fonzie.

I read that a man from akron ohio claimed he did it and wanted a ransom, but when the feds met with a guy the exchange was botched and the suspect was shot in the head. Margaret was never found from what I know.

Anyone ever hear anything more about this? That was a scary time in this area, there were a lot of abductions back then. My mother actually knew this woman who disappeared. It's a sad story. Especially the fact that she was never found.

I don't remember that but I remember when a teenage girl named Donna Sue Daniels went missing from Hill's Dept store in 1982. I was a little kid then so I might be off a little on the facts.

Do you all remember when Becky Sue left home back in 85? Well she married me and now is one of the happiest women in VA, all because this hunk of a man swept her off her feet and showed her what true love was all about.

It is sad.
I find myself thinking of Margie Dodd at least once a week even though I hadn’t even reached my teens yet when she was abducted. Some years back one of my retired relatives took up the task of investigating a similar mystery that involved a person who we were both related to. This person spent several years looking and digging into mounds of records and reports besides talking with lots of people hoping that any tid-bit of info would give the clue needed to solve this mystery.
In that persons look for clues they studied the Margie Dodd case as well as "others" to see if any of them may be connected. Although there were no connections tying Margie Dodd’s abduction to the mystery revolving around our relative there was some interesting info unearthed thru hours and hours of pure determination in trying to get facts and truths.
I found the information that my relative shared with me “very interesting”.
Margie’s husband had a friend who had the same type of car that was described by witnesses to investigators that was at the scene of Margie’s abduction that evening. Margie was familiar with this person because her and her husband having marital problems received marriage counseling from that person. When my relative retrieved a picture of that person from that era there was a striking resemblance in the description given by witnesses. Bra singly my relative informed me they were going to see if this person would have any reaction if confronted with the possibility that someone may know or suspicion them being involved with Margie’s disappearance. My relative and I were in awe at the results because this person “immediately” changed their whole routine, and we are talking about a routine which had been in place for years.
My relative even took me to a place where they thought Margie may had been hidden but us not having the resources or proper training could only look and probe around. We went there twice but my relative went several times as if they convinced Margie was at that spot.
My relative shared this info with authorities but it seemed as though it fell on death ears, no surprise. One can say things could be coincidental, circumstantial or just plain old hear say but the person in question always made a point to mention/brag about his close friends who happened to be Officers of the Law and just so you know the same person in question is a person of prestigious and money.
We all know that can go a long way when wanting to save face, because those are the things empires are built of.

I think it was the serial killer that is in this area & tri-state area around this time. rape & strangle. impulsive and daring like killing ppl in daylight or abducting. I think the killer waited for her to get off work at the mall. probably convinced himself she intentionally ripped him off money & got himself mad. she's a woman this person hates women. we have a serial killer in our tri state area

I went to school with Donna Daniels, she was very nice, very quiet girl. Never into any trouble. It was a shock to hear that she was missing, then later i think they did find her body. So sad

I was a toddler when this happened, literally 2 years old, I don't remember details, but I DO remember when it happened. My mother worked at Hills in bluefield, and she never would let me out of her reach after this. In any store. When I was older she told me that the night before Donna was taken that someone had tried to grab a woman at that Hills store, mom was leaving the store and was a witness, she screamed and got away because it was busy and a lot of people were around. The management contacted police and all, but after Donna was taken they couldn't get a cop to come and question about the Bluefield incident. As far as I know it never even made the papers, it was enough of a scare and 'coincidence', that my mother quit her job and moved back to Va. She kept scrap books for years about murder and abductions in the local area. When my mother passed I found some of them, I'm not sure where they are now, but I remember reading through them and thinking that some of the cases had to be related. Witness accounts in several described what sounded like the same man, and the same car was reported at several attempted abductions. A partial plate number was even gotten from an attempt at a gas station on the VA border. Then it just seemed like all the reporting stopped on all of it. A large part of my childhood included the warning to "never wander out of sight". My grandmother liked to read and clip the articles too. She too saw similarities that the authorities either never identified or released publicly. Saw tonight where a teen was taken from walgreens in belkley, which is what lead to this board. I also remember hearing the name Margaret Dodd, hard to believe that after all these years the families still are waiting.

Is there any way that you can share the name of the person that your relative mentioned and that you guys spoke to? I also have an interest in and have followed this case for years.
