All the God Haters chose to ignore that Evolution is also just a theory. There is no question that man and animals do evolve and change, but there is no evidence that proves the evolvement of man from a simpler life form. After all these years, the missing link is still missing. Both the theories of evolution and creation require a belief in things not currently known to man. The creationists demand that everyone submit to their theory, while denying the theory of creationism.
I have no problem with the schools teaching evolution, but teach it as a theory, not fact.

Teach "em" both:)

NO point in "brainwashing" the young, one way or the other....

It's a waste of time, and resources, to teach creationism. The earth is not 6,000 - 10,000 years old. There are geological and fossil records that clearly prove this to be wrong.

If parents want kids to learn creationism, send them to church/bible school. Or send them to this Museum of Misinformation:

Your wrong in most of your statements. We had a great discussion on evolution on this forum thread:

http://www.topix.com/forum/city/beckley-wv/TE...

It didn't start until several pages in. Want me to bump the thread back-up to the top and we can continue the discussion?

you can start the discuccion by showing me the missing link. evolution is sort of like abortion, you are not likely to change anyone's mind. Based on my reading of the Bible and study, in the Greek the word says that the earth was made void and without form. To make something void would mean to empty it out. In my mind there is no reason to doubt that different life forms and maybe even humans existing here prior to this current earth. Certainly the science backs that up. There is no provable scientific explaination as to how the earth and all creatures got here. I wasnt advocating teaching creationism in school. I dont need to know how God created the world, I believe that he did. I would certainly never promote that idea be promoted to the exclusion of all others. I was saying that if evolution is going to be taught that it should be offered as a therory and not scientific fact. Actually it does not even qualify as a theory, since a theory has to be observable and repeatable. I was wrong in none of my statements. I only made one statement of fact and that the missing link is still missing.

I'm not going there ... that discussion on the thread I linked to consumed too many hours of research and discussion. If you don't want to read through the Q&As on that thread, I'll just assume you're happy in your current state of blissful misinformation.

I am pleased that you are opposed to teaching creationism in schools. Here's an excellent PBS NOVA documentary called "Intelligent Design on Trial".

It's long, but really worth the viewing time if you are interested in the issue of creationism being taught in schools.

I would never want anything that I am required by faith to accept to be taught in a secular manner. Yes, it would be a waste of your time to go back over an argument that you have already had and would be a waste of my time as I know the arguments. Thanks for letting me remain in my bliss of misinformation. I have actually thought I found the missing link a couple of times, but actually they were just bad dates.

Lol!!!

It's a deal CP. We'll just let this argument go ...

Good. Wasn't worth it anyway. Why don't some of you nice bright people come up with an acceptable class that teaches all sides impartially about all theories. Kind of a history/mixed religions type of thing. Not all religions believe that God created Earth.

If children are being taught creation in schools then they should also be taught the evolution theory. Teaching one and not the other is brainwashing plain and simple. Kids need to be given a chance to make up their own minds and not have everything forced on them.

" A new Gallup poll, released Dec. 17, reveals that 40 percent of Americans still believe that humans were created by God within the last 10,000 years. This number is slightly down from a previous high of 47 percent in 1993 and 1999.

Another 38 percent of respondents believe that humans have evolved from more basic organisms but with God playing a role in the process.

A mere 16 percent of respondents subscribed to the belief of "secular evolution": that humans have evolved with no divine guidance. However, this number has nearly doubled from nine percent of respondents in a poll from 1982."

Count me in the 38%....Don't believe in the seven day thing, nor do I totally believe "S" just happens...The odds are too great against it, to my way of thinking.

A "day" could NOT be a 24hr. day... A day could be a billion years or more. There's too much evidence to ignore contradicting the creation of humans a mere ten thousand years ago.

"American" is a long-time stalker (years) who pops up from occasionally to harass. Topix must have blocked access, but this nut gets around the block by using anonymous proxies and disguised IP's. Obviously mentally unstable and should be reported when detected.

Wow ... sounds just like "ICU"/"Brian "/"Holly"/ "_icu_"/or whatever name he's using. Wait, you don't think that guy's too awful--I suppose your attitude depends on who's the target of harassement.

Oh well, nevermind. There is nothing that can be done about these types of posters. People report them to the moderators over and over, and yet they continue to "pop up" like you say. You just hope that you're not the one that get's caught in their crosshairs, and have sympathy for those that do.

FYI-I haven't observed much of the harrassment you say you've endured but I have read first-hand/in real time the vile posts of "American". This has gone on for over 3 years and this is probably the 2nd time I've posted a troll "notice". Someday I might post the same notice for you, but it won't be today.

The reason I posted a notice is because I HAVE been in the crosshairs and I DO have sympathy (for MOST posters).

Obviously, you didn't read through all those posts of his back on that link you dug up a week or so ago. Also, you must of failed to see his attack on LL on this forum, which was mild compared to what I've seen him do in the past to others.

When that "someday" comes, stick your lousy "troll warning" up your azz. The last thing I need, or want, is any help from you.

Poor Natalie - are you feeling like an out-sider here in Beckley? Don't you have a "home" comfy zone where someone will take up for you? You haven't earned my respect so no kudos for you. Hang around, I have been known to change my mind, or agree sometimes with my adversaries.

LOL! Don't kid yourself. You left LL out to dry, and you went off snooping into my background for no reason other than we have differing political beliefs. I don't expect you to "take up for me", so where you got that notion is beyond me.

I'll continue to "hang around" ... and if your bloated ego thinks it's because I desire your respect, then you're a sillier ass than I ever imagined.

I miss the era when people like Bill Nye would just teach us about tectonic plates and leaves personal beliefs out of it. Let people have their own opinions, and stop whinging like a ***** because they don't align with yours.
