Just when I think liberals cant get any more stupid, they continue to suprise me. Now outgoing Sec. of Defense Leon Panetta is lifting the ban against women in combat?
There are very real differences in men and women and I personally am very happy about most of them. Putting women in combat, puts lives in danger - pure and simple.

"A congresswoman who lost both of her legs while serving in the Illinois Army National Guard in Iraq applauded the Pentagon’s decision to to lift combat restrictions on women.

“The decision to allow women to serve in combat will allow the best man or woman on the frontline to keep America safe,” U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth, D-Illinois, said in a statement Wednesday.“As a combat veteran, I know the inclusion of women in combat roles will make America safer and provide inspiration to women throughout our country.”

Don't men in combat get carried when they are wounded? I thought they did. Guess I better watch some more war movies.

That will end when they start bringing women back in body bags.

Not saying they can't do the job, but I don't think the country is ready to accept mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, etc. getting killed in very large numbers.

How typical, you try to make a serious point and liberals are playing symantics. Most reasonable people who read my post would know that I meant unnecessary danger. Women simply have no business on the front line of a combat zone.

Over 100 women have been killed in Afghanistan so they're already in combat. Just like men, not all women are capable of being in combat but there are many who are. I saw Marine officer Zoe Bedell on Rachel Maddow's show last night and I believe she could handle combat pretty well...and she's pretty to boot. Take a look.

Something that will have to be addressed --

the draft and whether women will be required to register.

Women In Combat May Kill the Draft – Or Expand It

I spent alot of time in both Iraq and Afgh. Usually with my pack and gear and rifle on I was about 85 lbs heavier. I've met some tough women who would be perfectly fine for combat. But it would have to be situation specific. None of those tough women would have been suited to a 3 day pack out. Their bodies simply wouldn't hold up to the weight IMO. Having said that though, I can tell you I have seen a few that could outshoot almost any man out there. So, like I said, it'll work just fine in certain situations. Light Infantry I don't think is one of them. I saw several women fall out in basic.(but there were a few men too)

i grew up in a world where men did the fighting for their women. I like it that way. It is not as much a question of wheter or not a woman can do the job, it is a matter of should they. My comment about endangering lives was more about the emotional make up of women more than physical. I just think most women would be a little more reluctant to pull the trigger than men. That hesitation can mean the difference between life and death. That is not an insult to women, it is just an acknowledgement that there is a difference between men and women.

You described my emotional makeup pretty well but I believe there are a lot of women who are not like that. That Marine officer I mentioned earlier graduated first in her class and had 4 years training in Farsi but she had to leave the military because she couldn't advance because she was a woman. As Jeb said, women won't be suited for every type of combat but at least now they will have the chance to see what they can do.

I go into the combat zone every morning. Its the Hoodlums against the Heathens out to gain control of the Holy Land aka the bathroom..... there's only 1. There's been mass casualties. And I drag them out everyday. Thank God there is enough TVs and cellphones to go around Or I'd have to call in for backup.
