Where are the best places to dumpster dive in the Beckley area? I'm interested in craft supplies, clothing, and unopened food items. Which stores leave their dumpsters unlocked? Which days of the week are the best to go (ie the day before trash gets picked up)? Please share your experiences with local dumpster diving.

Why don't you just go to beaver at the welfare bum rally next to the liquor store, plenty of crabs, lice and other stuff to choose from. Law needs to do something about these nasty ass bums down there! Probably half of the stuff is stolen goods from other people in the county.

I have lived here for 20 years, and I have to agree with "Sup". This place has become a real sh*t hole over the past five years. Run down buildings, bums, drunks, pill heads and yard sale upon yard sale of junk, probably stolen, that people flock to, picking through it like the blacks in African digging through the garbage dumps.

"Unbelievable". I am assuming you are a "coal burner" just based on your defensive stance. My guess is that I am far and aware much more educated than your dumpster diving ass.

Businesses actually throw away valuable goods such as: food that expired that day, opened items that are still perfectly good, food in bent cans, items with missing parts (a 3 pack of candles that is missing 1 for example).

You don't have to be a bum to take perfectly good things out of the trash for free. In fact some may call you smart.

Most people who dumpster dive, frequent the salvation army store or spend a lot of their income on yard sale or rummage sale trash are mentally ill. Getting a deal or a good buy or something on sale is different. A lot of the ones that do it even go to churches and get free food that is meant for the really poor or homeless and can well afford to eat. That type of person just unnerves me to no end. They will waste half their income on junk and fast food, then act like they are so poor they have to shop at the salvation army or dumpster dive. Lot of them have a mental illness called hoarding and it often gets so out of control they get evicted or can never live anywhere nice because of the way they waste money. I have seen my brother furnish his house from rummage sales and spend more on junk than he could buy nice things for. I do not feel sorry for someone with a good monthly salary and no responsibilities, that goes to the salvation army, to places meant for the homeless or poor, or dumpster dives. Every now and then a store will throw out a item that is still "good" but most of the time that type item goes to the clearance stores like Gabes, Ollies or Big Lots. Maybe if they would spend their time working instead of popping pills they wouldn't feel the need to dumpster dive.

The ones in the silver extended cab truck in beaver have biting lice, and smell like shit, steer clear of them.

Unless Staples has gotten a trash compactor, you can find good stuff in there, and in the other businesses dumpsters!

Well it seems like Thursday mornings are the days that LUSK and other garbage companies come and collect the stuff from the cans. Best bet is either Wednesday night or Thursday morning 6-8 just don't get caught in a dumpster behind GameStop when the trash man rolls around he seen me jump out that thing too fast!!

Also harbor freight has chains around their cans so no luck in some free tools too bad too I seen I couple nice things in there for as far as I could open the lid...

I agree I have never seen so many yard sales in one area and 90%of them have nothing but junk and clothing that is dry rotted because they collect everyone’s discards no matter what shape . Their homes become unlivable because of collecting this stuff . As far as dumpster diving I think stores in the area should donate salvageable food to food pantries and homeless shelters . I have watched this dumpster diving show and it is disgusting what these people consume not because they are needy but because of stinginess. It’s ridiculous . If you want to save money I believe you can find other ways to do so instead of dumpster diving and it is a shame that we have more people going hungry and homeless than since the depression yet our country spends billions supposedly to keep people out of poverty . Maybe it is time to strengthen welfare guidelines and instead of helping those that are abusing the system and help those that need it
