well now I feel a lot closer to an answer... Really though as a community this stuff has to stop... 20 years ago we could leave our doors unlocked and not worry about whether our things would still be there in the morning. Lets try to help out where we can and contact the proper authorities or colony drug with any information.

THis type of Crimes are going to continue in Beckley and in surrounding places because its the times we live in. It should be a surprise it has not happened to them before now. Also Eppys was robbed as well If I understood correctly. They to have been in business in the area for many many years. When you pass laws that give criminals more rights then law abiding citizens you can not expect much more. And the fact the jails are so full and over crowded most are just slapped on the wrist and or tagged and sent home. And also was told most Law enforcement today do not believe some drugs should be illegal to use. AND you have to blame area Doctors who hand out perscriptions like it was candy. SO with users and sellers you gonna get this sort of Crime and it will increase. If I could help I would, But everyone can help by getting rid of the Life long Politicains in your State and in Washington...and some of your local Law enforcement personal and especially your Corrupt Mayor you all just keep putting in over and over !! Start there and you will see a change.

Mark Anthony Gilliam, 38, of Beckley was arrested early Saturday morning by Fayette County Sheriffs after approximately $16,500 worth of prescription medications were found in his car during a routine traffic stop. Following his arrest, he confessed to a string of pharmacy break-ins in Raleigh County.

According to a press release from Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler, Deputy N.D. Hall was responding to a report of an accident on Paint Creek Road near Scarboro when he noticed a blue Geo Tracker, driven by Gilliam, with extensive damage to the front end.

When Hall stopped the vehicle to determine whether it had been involved in the accident, he observed numerous pill bottles in the passenger seat. It was soon determined that Gilliam's license had been suspended. Hall further noted that Gilliam had attempted to destroy several pills by eating them.

A full search of the car revealed over 2,000 prescription pills including Oxycodone, Xanax, Diazapam and Methodone. Deputies also found tools commonly used for breaking and entering.

After his arrest, Gilliam confessed to Fayette County Detective-Sergeant S.M. Gray that he was responsible for a recent string of pharmacy break-ins in Raleigh County. Gilliam specifically confessed to breaking into Crab Orchard Pharmacy on Jan. 6, as well as Eppy's and Colony Drug on Jan. 11.

"This is yet another example of how wide-spread the prescription drug problem is in Southern West Virginia," said Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler. "We've got an individual from Raleigh County...who is found in Fayette County in possession of an extremely large quantity of prescription medication. This individual is positively linked to the break-in of at least three area pharmacies."

Gilliam was arraigned in Fayette County Magistrate Court on four charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Further charges relating to the pharmacy break-ins are likely to be filed in Raleigh County in the near future.

Gilliam remained in Southern Regional Jail Saturday afternoon in lieu of a $25,000 bond. The incident remains under investigation by the Fayette and Raleigh County Sheriffs Departments, as well as the Beckley Police.

They do work hard, in fact they are over worked. Its not the deputies and the officers fault. Although in every profession there are bad apples that make the others look badly, but they work their butts off. If there is anybody to be upset with its those in charge and in most circumstances you have a choice you have a choice in who to put in those positions, so instead of complaining you should do something proactive to help them out!
