Although I was quite young (under 10), I remember Pete & Bob's. My parents would take my brother and me there on Sunday evenings. I'd always order a barbecue with cole slaw and we'd listen to the stories on the radio - Have Gun Will Travel and Gunsmoke. When we moved from Beckley, we stopped there one last time and my brother tore up their tin roof with a truck - didn't have enough clearance!

I remember Pete&Bobs,, weekends were the time we just cruised around the lot.... Lots of cars, lots of horns blowing, lots of flirting and smiles, almost traffic jams going around the lot, and yes the food was good...Barbecues (very Garlicky)
I also got yellow paint on my Dad's 65 Chevy, chrome over the wheels by getting to close to a pole, to talk to a BF.
My dad never knew

Thanks Remember it. Even though I never ate the barbecue from the restaurant, I ate it a lot growing up.My grandfather was Bob and my Grandmother was Dottie. I remember her staying up all night making the barbecue. Thanks again and hope to hear more stories from people.

Thanks Ted. I loved my grandmas coconut cream pie. She made it for every holiday up until she passed. That and her banana cream were my favorites.

Thanks for all the stories and hope more keep coming. I'm Bobs only grandson and I currently had a son. My hopes are to print these out so one day he will be able to read what his great grandpa did. Even if you never went, maybe your parents or grandparents did. If you could get stories from them it would be greatly appreciated. As a cook myself, my father and I have toyed with the idea of reopening Pete&Bob's.

I used to go there in the back of Dottie's station wagon. Great hot dogs, barbecues, pies, and pizza. Miss those days but best of all I married into the family so good food still lives on along with great memories and fine people. Miss you Bob and Dottie very much.
